Does anyone know what the Taxi Driver said to Bond before he pulled him out of the Cab in AVTAK?

No, but he was obviousdly an Englishman trying to play a Frenchman, hence the general incoherence!

Shades of British anti-French sentiment there...plus a small dose of racism from the shouting to the bombastic hand signals!

    Awful scene!

I'll rewatch that scene and get back to you on it.

Have you read Andrew McNess's new book James Bond in our Sights: A Close Look at 'A View to A Kill'.

If not, you should have a look at it!

As much as I love AVTAK, the taxi driver is the worst thing about the film. Really bad actor :#

Agreed, I love AVTAK too, but this scene of a (drunk) French taxi driver had too many cliches and should have been left on the cutting room floor where it belonged!

He may say something else, but what I recall was 'No, no English/english!' so he either didn't fancy driving around an English bloke (imagine, and old Rog, too!) or he didn't speak any English. He seemed a bit annoyed as he was supping red wine and eating some bread (bit of a stereotype-though though AVTAK and subtle probably aren't two things that go together!) when Bond pulled him out of the Taxi.

no idea what he said, but i thought he was funny. reminded me of the similar scene in Octopussy with the women in the phone booth.

Think the French guy is sat in his Renault, under or by the Eiffel Tower, eating cheese and drinking red wine, Bond shout at him to follow Mayday's parachute, but Frenchy ain't having any of it, zooot allor!! So Bond evicts the wine guzzling fromage chomper and makes off in the shed of a voituer that is the Renault 12 (?) as the taxi driver shouts things like "OH!" And "Oh my carrr!!" Etc while flapping his arms around like a windmill.

I think the scene is fantastic, well acted and perfectly written.

If the taxi driver was wearing a string of onions however, well, I'd be outside 138 with a placard. :))

Keep in mind the stunt driver coordinator on that scene was the Frenchman Rémy Julienne. Maybe it was an inside joke poking fun at him. I don't think Remy even spoke much english, but still managed to pull off all these great car chases for 007.

Brilliant guy, very talented and probably most known for a film involving 3 little minis taking a trip to Italy. He looks great in a black wig too.... :))

I used to think he was saying "Lazy English!", although "No Speak English!" would go with his disgusting behaviour :))
