Bond 24 - any chance shooting this year??

welshboy78welshboy78 Posts: 10,321MI6 Agent
So after Skyfall has raked in obscene money and EON declared they would like to go back to 2 year releases etc I guess this would mean a press conference this Nov announcing cast and title etc

Whats the odds or is it far too soon???????

Imagine script is being tackled right now and DC has reportedly signed on for two more etc

Wishful thinking?

Nah I think it's quite justifiable to be enthusiastic about the potential 2 year schedule.

From what we've heard in the press, all seems on track so far.

That would be great Hopefully we get the proper gunbarrel Q gadgets, Moneypenny/Bond interaction etc.

That seems reasonable to me. They could start this autumn and shoot through early summer for a Fall 2014 release. That would be good.

The pre production timeline is about six months. This means a pretty much settled script and Director in place by late March to allow for major set builds etc. Feels very tight to me, but here's hoping.

Yeah I was also thinking it would be tight. Also DC being the arty type I imagine he would have another project in the works before another Bond film???

CR to QoS was Fall 2006 release, then Fall 2008. Why can't SkyFall to Bond 24 be Fall 2012, then Fall 2014? Two years was the standard for much of the franchise history. I would think they have a chance of getting it on track, even if it requires them to get to finalizing the pre-production ASAP.

How about John Glen again? I would like Mendes again or Campbell.

Mendes if he would be willing to do another, Nolan close second choice.

Top choice is Martin Campbell. I think he is largely responsible for two of the most praised rejuvenations the franchise has had.

Totally agree on Mendes, but the hipster in me is annoyed by how much college students love Christopher Nolan.

Inception led to an endless "Director of our times/I'm so interested in psychology and dreams in the brain," comments from my classmates. I just felt like saying "I found him before The Dark Knight you pseudo-intellectual dipsticks."

And The Dark Knight Rises was disappointingly influenced by the summer comic book film formula compared to the much rarer merits of The Dark Knight as a great crime film that stood away from its comic book association.

    He's retired, I think, being 80 now.

Matthew Vaugn. Director of xmen first class.
In the behind the scenes he talks about coming very close to directing a Bond.
In my guess it was Quantum of Solace.

James Bond film number 30 is the one I want to direct. It has been my ambition in life since I was 12.

That would be an interesting choice indeed!!!

As for Martin Campbell - isn't he on record saying he would never do another? Though I guess the Bond films are pretty much the highlight of his career so never say never. Do love his Bond films though!

As for Nolan, I get the impression he would prob want to wipe the slate clean or add something strange which is precisely what we don't need after the way Skyfall ended (now we have DC established in the manner we want the films to continue)

I'd say there is a better than 50% chance that Bond 24 will begin filming by the end of this year. I am sure the producers will want to cash in on the success of Skyfall sooner rather than later. John Logan and Sam Mendes have apparently been working on a plot. Should Mendes decide not to return, then I would welcome either Martin Campbell, Christopher Nolan or Matthew Vaughn. Though the odds (at this moment) on any of them directing Bond 24 look slim at best.

I'd love to see a Nolan Bond film, but it might not happen simply because he would want artistic control, which he has had with all his previous films.

I think Casino Royale was likely his biggest interest, because of the major franchise overhaul that was allowed.

I read in the Scottish Daily Mail today that Sam Mendes has considered by producers already and that if that was the case they wouldn't start before 2014 so that Mendes can concentrate on directing Charlie and the Chocolate factory this year. Remember its the Scottish Daily Mail though :p

If confirmed, this is something that will probably have an impact on whether Sam Mendes returns for Bond 24. Mendes has teamed together with John Logan for an untitled drama series described as a psychological horror with literary underpinnings, including Dr. Frankenstein and his creature, set in the 1800's. Logan and Mendes are executive producing the show, with an eye for Mendes to direct. The series looks set to be broadcast by pay cable network Showtime.

It appears the Bond producers are prepared to delay the production of Bond 24 in order to allow time for Sam Mendes to complete his current projects. According to Baz Bamigboye of the Daily Mail newspaper, Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson have offered Mendes the opportunity to start work on Bond 24 in 2014.

They should really start having these Bond movies come out more often. If you look at The Hobbit, they already have the sequal set to come out in December of this year. The Movie is still in theatres as we speak.
1: Casino Royale 2: Goldeneye 3: Skyfall 4: Octopussy 5: Goldfinger 6: Tomorrow Never Dies 7: The World Is Not Enough 8: The Living Daylights 9: From Russia With Love 10: The Spy Who Loved Me

I'm not so sure, Hobbit is a grab the cash while you can opportunity and all set in the same locations, making it easier to film back to back, or almost. With Bond, they have to pace themselves.
