I agree with this 100%, although, as I said, it looked more or less like she was just wearing WAY too much makeup.

If it was, then why didn't I have an issue with it on any other Bond girl except the actress who played Helga Brandt (who was heavily made up on purpose, I know)? Or frankly, too many other films from that era? ?:) I guess I mean that even by the standards of the time, she was or seemed to be marinating in it.

You got me there, perhaps it suits some more than others. Also 1962 was still very much the 1950's in terms of style. By 1967 things and looks had changed somewhat so comparison is not like for like. However what we can agree on is that Helga Brandt was one sexy woman.

Well, Karin Dor was anyway. If you see any photos of her outside YOLT, you'll see that it's by far her least attractive role (the Nikki van der Zyl voice doesn't help...ironically, her natural voice speaking English wasn't half bad). Sometimes totally changing an actress's looks seems to work, but I liked Karin Dor far better as a brunette. As with Yvonne Shima in DN (who was aged thanks to makeup as opposed to "Germanified"...Cubby apparently didn't think she looked German enough!), it's my contention that if they simply let her look more like herself, she wouldn't be on half the "least attractive" lists she often does appear on.

In both films he seems to squeeze her in between urgent appointments or plane flights. That'd be REALLY cool if they brought back a Sylvia for Daniel Craig to fence with.
