Forgive the shameless self-promotion, but I did a video review of GOLDENEYE:

This is part of a video series I'm planning on doing where I review every James Bond movie. It's surprising how little there is of someone doing the entire series. If you like it, please comment, like and subscribe.

Okay, great review of a great Bond film, one factor you did not employ, possibly because you are not aware, is how 'Fleminesque' the film rates. Can I assume you've never read the Fleming novels? 'Cinema' Bond can vary widely from the 'literary' Bond, as I'm sure you can imagine. Brosnan is my overall favourite cinema Bond. Timothy Dalton's two movies are my favourite Bond movies because of reading the novels. Doctor No rates very highly with me for the same reason.
Regardless, I like your style & wit. Keep on doing it!!
Dalton & Connery rule. Brozz was cool.

good review. i'll do some shameless self-promotion too, as i have before. on my blog, i am rewatching all the films and doing individual entries on all. ironically, i'm through Goldeneye. Here's the link if you'd like to read and all other entries can be found in The 007 Files category.

Thanks Todd. I enjoyed your review as well, we see eye to eye on a lot of things.

And thank you chrisisall. To answer your question, yes I have read a few of the Fleming books, YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE, GOLDFINGER, and maybe one more when I was younger. As far as how "Fleminesque" the movie is, it's difficult to say because the movie as a whole places Bond in the modern world. The Cold War is over, Bond's misogynistic ways don't fly anymore, especially with Judi Dench as M. I do like that they named the movie after Fleming's estate as a nod to the writer and referencing Bond's parents' death. Alec Trevelyan is a villain in the tradition of Red Grant.

i will admit sheepishly that my knowledge of Bond extends only to the films. I have never read Fleming and all my blog postings are limited only to the pictures with no comparison to the novels. thanks lord for the compliment. it's been so fun blogging about each 007 movie... only six more to go!

Great review lord of Jimmy, good mix of facts, opinions and humour. The,review reminded me how Awesome Goldeneye is.
