Finally watched NSNA on DVD !

Back in the 90's when I would rent 007 movies on VHS tape, Never Say Never Again stood out as one of my favorites. Although I was quite puzzled at the time by the lack of gun barrel sequence and similar story to Thunderball.

Years later I upgraded to the DVD ultimate edition box sets and NSNA kinda got left in the dust. I recently tried to buy it on DVD but found it out-of-print and fetching ridiculous prices on eBay. $35 for standard DVD or blu-ray for $200 !

So I turned to netflix and after receiving a damaged disc, I finally got to watch a DVD of NSNA. yay!

Funny how even years later and experiencing the widescreen DVD quality, NSNA was almost exactly how I remembered it.

I'm not sure why it gets ragged on so much with many Bond fans wishing it was never made. I think of it as a fun bonus 007 movie. I'd rank it higher than Thunderball and Octopussy, which are the only two 007 films which deserve a direct comparison.

Anyway, I've heard that a 30th anniversary edition is going to be released soon. Can anyone confirm this? USA release?

PS- blackleiter if you're reading this, how do you feel about the Felix Leiter in NSNA ?

They have loads of N.S.N.A in H.M.V. last week for £3.00 in normal format at our local store in Bexley Heath,

I heard a Rumor that supposedly Steve Segal trained Connery for a few Scenes in NSNA.

Amazon has NSNA on pre-order in blu-ray format, it's being released 1st of April in the UK, dunno about stateside though...

As for Seagal, he did train and prepare Connery for the some scenes and rumor says that Seagal accidentally broke Sean's wrist during the training, although Connery denied that his wrist was actually broken, didn't deny it was damaged though..

A very good friend of mine has said, that 1983 was very special for Bond fans 'cause you got two Bond films that year

Recently watched NSNA for the first time myself, and thought its not bad, its no Goldfinger granted, but it was just as good as some of Moore's later efforts, there were some really weak moments, and Edward Fox as M, didn't really work and Q was too over the top, some of the jokes were obviously written by Bernard Manning particularly when Bond is asked to fill a Jug with urine, and he says what from here, how many puerile sit coms in the 1970's had we seen that.
but it was well shot and was reasonable entertainment
Perhaps he should do another one

The urine sample joke was a Dick Clement and Ian Le Frenais gag from Porridge, though that was a very superior 70s sitcom.

Not heard about 30th annivesary edition. As EON own it now, or something, and they hate the film I can't see them wheeling out the big guns for it.

No because neither of them ever played Bond. At least Woody Allen actually portrayed Bond (well........Jimmy Bond, but still...) )
