Rushing through the paces; green Bond to jaded Bond...

(lifted from a literary thread because it's really Films-worthy)
I have no problem with Bond being in a particular place for a series of movies, but this whole "he's not 'our' Bond yet-NOW he is-wow he's so almost done with this s**t" in the span of 3 flicks is kind of annoying. But I understand the rush to run a character through the emotional mill these days before the next reboot...
Question is, where will Craig's Bond be in the next film?

Thoughts?
Dalton & Connery rule. Brozz was cool.

I can't see any emotional place 007 can go except to his normal, self.

Yes, it has taken a long time to get here - some might say too long, but these films are masterpieces compared with those of the Brosnan era that promised much but delivered very little!

To be honest I'm ok with it up to Skyfall but if Bond is not "established" in Bond 24 I think I will be fed up with it.

I think we need DC just to get on with missions, saving the world yada yada in the next one and forget his past and emotional probs

    Yes, my sentiments exactly...

I certainly feel it has taken too long, Craig will be past it before we ever get the fully realised version as promised. We should have got the 'real deal' in QOS and then an assumption of the passage of time, and missions not seen (maybe in flashback, or a PTS) and then the burnt out Bond of Skyfall would have made a lot of sense. If they wanted the evolution to take this long, they should have gone for a younger actor for CR as originally planned. 24 will pose real problems now to dig themselves out of the hole of their own creation.

Yes, I see what you mean. They're back to the Brosnan/Moore problem of age again - although Craig is currently much younger than these men were. It's probably debateable if Craig will stay for another 2 films - perhaps only one more a la Brosnan.

This is one of the areas that makes Skyfall a good Bond film but not a great one in my eyes, esp when compared with CR-06.

If we take QoS out of the equation, the final scene of CR, where 007 has "pegged" Mr White says all that needs to be said on Craig's version of Bond becoming 007. I saw the character evolve from rough diamond rookie to an established and reliable 00 agent in that one story. QoS, with the deliberate black sheep / renegade agent and "M means mother" aspects set the character backwards, for no good reason.
Only the final scene of QoS in the snow with M means anything to the bigger picture, effectively resetting things back the way they were at the end of the previous film. As a result, Skyfall feels like we are thrust too forward too fast to the now burnt out, been doing this too long sub plot. - The fact nothing comes of it in the end is also annoying.
However, to me it has ironically made me see Casino Royale R in an even better light, as I can truly accept CR-06 as a stand alone Bond film, and my favorite one to boot!

Yes, its def time to be getting on with the job. If there must be brooding introspection, leave it to Batman!
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?

    Agree 100%

I'm one of the rare few who likes QoS however agree it was a needless step backwards the way they portrayed Bond

I found watching CR and then going to see SF all in one weekend was pretty smooth. I can just ignore the mess of QoS. Though it was a very well made, entertaining movie, I thought it went way beyond preposterous with some bits. If I cut out the stuff I didn't like, I think it'd be like a 30 minute SECRET AGENT (DANGER MAN) episode. ;)

All of them are good, all of them better then the last three Brosnan films.
