Bad points?
Thanks

    Hi Kan

    £ 680 $ 1073
    85 Issues
Well made, Parts fit well (mine did anyway) good colour match on panels ( mine anyway) heavy and substantial.
More attention to detail needed eg Swiss number plates incorrect, wrong colour interior roof lining, wrong colour seats, plastic seats not leather covered, wrong colour moulded floor. More detail required on dashboard. All of this can be corrected with some modelling skills. Poor spares replacement after collection complete, which is when you most need it, still waiting for a replacement steering wheel 3 months on.

It will be really nice when fully assembled but now in 4 main units awaiting said steering wheel. Wish I could have afforded the one at the last auction, beautiful and lots bigger. {[]

I *might* have a steering wheel - you interested? I'll see if I can dig it up.

My take on the 1:8 scale DB5

Firstly its huge and that is a great point. BUT negatively its huge!

the cost of buying the kit runs at just short of £700 and comes in 86 parts.

The quality of some of the finish on the painted parts is questionable and some people have experienced different shades of colour over the various parts.

A few pieces can be fiddly and may break so be careful.

generally it does exactly what it advertises.
    OK real world.

It costs £700 to buy in parts, it took ages to get . Add the building time and you are looking at a £1000 plus model.
Is it worth it - well the overall quality is suspect, the interior is particularly poor for the price and size. To get a good idea take some close up shots of the interior and ask yourself if it looks like a real car........ - to me it looks like a toy car.

Another problem is the size - its very heavy. Parts can break off and maybe under a glass coffee table might be the best bet as it collects dust like a vacuum cleaner.

    Investment?

Well its early days but as its not a toy then it might be safe to say that what was produced will still be around. Built up cars did well pre Christmas but I feel that ultimately these will be the least valuable.

unbuilt sets complete 1-86 will command a good price and give a purchaser the chance to build the model. IMO the most valuable will be a set unopened in the baggies with the magazines.

Part sets may be a very good buy as a lot of people do not get to the end of a series and duck out early. Later parts (maybe 50-86) might eventually become more valuable as they will have produced less.

Imagine a Toyota 2000 in the same scale - awesome!
