Interesting TND deleted scenes

Odd to see, for instance the dress rehearsal of M briefing Bond in the back of the car, making it more clear it's London and it's a police escort. But hard to knock back the martinis! Some wordy exposition about Carver's background, though in another context it would have made for a more well-rounded character.

I always felt the Carver-Paris dialogue ended oddly and prematurely with 'Barely?' and now I see it did.

You really do get the sense that the film was made on the hoof. The whole guy with his playing cards angle knocked out, for instance. The director's comments are interesting though, he does have a touch of the Lewis Gilbert about him.

    I felt Gupta's character would of been slightly more interesting if they kept the deleted scenes of him in.
    ....and the best he ever managed was a sermon on the mount.

    Lord knows really how all that verbiage - that word again - about the oil fields got to that stage. Very shoehorned, like the exposition in TND in the back of the limo.

    Well it's all on youtube. Must say, that Serena Scott-Thomas is hot, very much like Sylvia Trench, a sort of down-to-earth hungry carnality about her.
