I agree. I have dozens of ties from TheTieBar, and they're great quality for only $15. It's become my favourite place to buy ties. Here's the link for those who are interested:
There is nothing special at all about the COS tie quality wise
Indeed.
The COS pieces certainly don't meet with Cubby's maxim of "Put the money up on screen".
Real cheap tat by comparison with the stuff Bond's worn over the years (and I mean stuff JB seems to have chosen to wear himself rather than had forced upon him)
True, though I'm more comfortable with the Zara and Top Man stuff in context.
Consider, in Shanghai he is in a top-dollar 5* hotel, wearing a John Smedley jumper, Acne pants, C&J boots and BR jacket. Not unexpensive quality attire. He is being himself, James Bond. Yet he choses to accompany that with a low end shitty shirt and tie? This a renown T&A/Brioni/TF formal shirt and tie wearer?
And yet with the "Enjoying Death "stuff he is a traumatised, non-traditional JB. Cheap, high street clothes seem to suit the image of living in a beech hut. Though I do concede he oddly teams them with a £600 leather jacket....

You are right, the cos stuff don't have the same quality like Tom ford or t and a. But for the price they are good quality.
Cos have used in the last season for a suit the same material like Burberry ( Burberry cost 985 Euro) cos 400. In Germany the focus magazine have tested several shirts in several prices and the classic white shirt was the winner. Of course their not like Tom Ford, but for there price their pretty good, so not a bad choice.

I'd argue he's supposed to be dressed, though we don't realize it at the bar, as a limo driver.

Possibly, if he knew in advance that he was going to pick up Patrice's tail at the airport. But it is the only cap which "makes" him a chauffeur.
But it still does not explain why a TF shirt and tie wearer would choose the rest of the kit he was wearing to be to his usual expensive and high quality standards, and then match them with a cheap, low end shirt and tie combo just because he thought those two pieces would be the clincher in passing himself off as a limo driver....

EDIT: The "Grenafaux" weave would also make a good budget alternative, although it has a more distinct texture.

As far as I know, there's nothing super-accurate to the Bond ties in their catalogue. However, I've been using this tie as my budget alternative for the Skyfall grey Istanbul tie: http://www.thetiebar.com/order_page.asp?pn=33521&orderPageReturn=%2Fsearch.asp%3Ftarget%3Dgray%2Btooth%26btnTemplateSearchFormSubmit.x%3D4%26btnTemplateSearchFormSubmit.y%3D23
Not very accurate up close, but it looks the part from a few feet away, and it's a sharp-looking tie in its own right.
This one would also work, but the skinny version is currently sold out: http://www.thetiebar.com/order_page.asp?pn=32864&orderPageReturn=%2Fsearch.asp%3Ftarget%3Derudite%26btnTemplateSearchFormSubmit.x%3D4%26btnTemplateSearchFormSubmit.y%3D21
Colour-wise, this tie is similar to the QoS Bolivia tie: http://www.thetiebar.com/order_page.asp?pn=13503&orderPageReturn=%2Fsearch.asp%3Ftarget%3Dchampagne%2Btooth%26btnTemplateSearchFormSubmit.x%3D17%26btnTemplateSearchFormSubmit.y%3D10
Casino Royale Montenegro tie? Colours are pretty close. http://www.thetiebar.com/order_page.asp?pn=13501&orderPageReturn=%2Fsearch.asp%3Ftarget%3Dnavy%2Btooth%26btnTemplateSearchFormSubmit.x%3D12%26btnTemplateSearchFormSubmit.y%3D12

I am leaning towards tie bar for my ties, in an attempt to save up for a suit purchase from Barons
Where in Ontario are you located?
