yeah, ive been experimenting with dyes (using RIT liquid). I dyed several pairs of Levis Cords using a color combo of black and dark brown. The first pair was 50/50 and they came out kinda deep purple-ish black. I went from there and think i finally found the correct mixture for a perfect SA color...

Can you share the mixture (or ratios of brown and black)?

I've started playing around with some in-wash dyes and have come up with dark brown but with a slight purplish tinge. Unsure how much black to mix in.

    Cheers

Having the actual pants, make sure they are "grey" enough with your dye. In most light these pants look like a darkish grey. The actual amount of brown is very very minimal.

thanks Exit. All the pairs Ive experimented with have been grey.

As for the mix, its an 80% Dark black with a 20% dark brown (i have the measurement in liquid ounces written down somewhere).50/50 is how we get the purplish tint...

    Returningson,

Please see my thread here for the dye process I used - http://www.ajb007.co.uk/topic/39520/for-sale-all-saints-corduane-iggys-skyfall-lodge-corduroys/

And here's a comparison pic of my dyed pair (on the right) with a pair of Bitter Chocs (on the left) -
