The Skyfall Crockett & Jones Islay Boot thread

Thought these boots deserve their own thread (since the lodge has one, the BR has one and the levis has one).

Please post pics of the boots you have in hand as well as address any sizing issues (I heard these run big?)

Also, does anyone know where one in the US can place an order for these?

Best quality v value for money footwear I have ever had.

£405 and I've worn 'em most days since October.

No issues with sizing either; spot-on UK 9.

Very impressed by C&J indeed; all their Bond stuff seemed a good price and high quality in Jermyn Street.

nice. I also read somewhere that they seem to make these more in an E width rather than the standard D (or at least its seems easier to find Es rather than Ds).

and, just because I wanna start some sh*&^#)%t, what do you guys think Daniel Craig's screen accurate size is? :D

I picked up the Skye model in burnished chestnut on a recent visit to London. Almost identical design to the Islays but the colour is stunning. The craftmanship is phenomenal. Easy to see why DC is a personal fan of C&J.

Dunno, mate. Don't even know how tall Craig is for sure, never mind how big his feet might be; does anyone? :o :s ;)

yeah, probably impossible to find out. My guess, either a 9 or a 10 (Im his height and im a 10 not that proves anything though).

In UK sizing the E width is the equivalent of the D width in US sizing.

Beautiful boot, it's no wonder half of the pics of DC online have him wearing this exact model.

I have actually been thinking about cancelling an Islay pre order I have been waiting for since December because I have grown so enamored with the chesnut Skyes. I really just don't want to leave the sales associate I have been dealing with hanging after all the correspondence he's put up with over the past couple of months. That and I'm next in line for a pair in 9E, which the styleforum experts say is equivalent to 10D US.

I have been wearing the chiltern(boot) and the wembley(oxford) for about a year now, fantastic shoes.

Apart from when it's C&J. Their 'E' fitting is actually a regular 'F' in most other shoe makers. Explained here by the superb Richard Smith at Shoehealer in Doncaster (although no C&J are shown he does have some and had a 10.5 Islay in stock about a month ago https://www.shoehealer.co.uk/page.asp?pageidx=32

Don't forget the 'Harry' boot by C&J, thread here http://www.ajb007.co.uk/topic/39268/skyfall-lodge-boots/ The Islay boot in a wider 'F' fitting. I've got my name down for a 9.5UK at Rogersons http://www.rogersonshoes.com/men_smart2.html but I've since bought a pair of Tricker's Stow which are superb. If anyone wants a heads up when Rogersons get a 9.5 in, give me a shout and I'll let you know when they email me.

Send one of the UK branches an email. I was told by two diff branches that there is a large queue and wait. If you prepay you will be on the priority list, if you don't then you will be notified when stock is available however all stock currently goes to people who have pre-paid hence you could be waiting a while without prepaying.

Christopherforbesshoes.com is who I have my pre order through. They ship to the USA, that's where I live. So will any of the Crockett and Jones retailers in the UK.
  • ReturningsonReturningson Posts: 560MI6 Agent
thanks Kennedy! Will definitely order there! ;-)

info@christopherforbesshoes.com Get a hold of Alastair and he will take care of you.

I would do some online research until you are comfortable on which UK size to go with. I'm a true to US size 10D. I went with 9E in the Islay based off of internet research and the advice of some great people on style forum.

If anyone is looking for a pair in 9E I would be willing to pass on my place in the queue. I really want to order a pair of those Skyes in chestnut and if I go through Crockett & Jones direct I can have them resole them with the same dainite sole as the Islay for 60 more pounds.

well, reall dont know what to say. "Best boots ever?" :))

Online you read various statements about the quality of these boots. Best scotch grain, heirloom quality. etc. All of it is true. I own several pairs of high end footwear (mainly Tods) but these boots are just simply epic. The construction, the colors/hue, the detailing of the brogue/stitching. Its not everday you can hold something and say to yourself "yep, these will probably be used by somebody after Im dead" lol.

    'nuff talking.

mine are the US Barney's edition (the originals they had for sale before Skyfall. They are taking orders again BTW)

    Notes on sizing
These do size big. I normally wear a 10 or thereabouts in just everything. Most of my dress shoes are 9.5 (TODS, Stafford) or 10 (Cole Haan). I wear a 9.5 in Clarks and a 10 in converse, sneaks, vans. So, these are about a half size big but not quite a full half size as they are just a hair tight. Mine are almost brand new so I’m sure with some breaking in, they would stretch out. Furthermore, these seem to frequently be seen in a “E” width which isn’t standard. Im a standard D width and these boots are D and these fit fine in terms of width.
