I'm a few months older than Mr Craig but finding it really does get harder to train consistently as one gets older. I don't have access to all my equipment at the moment so have to improvise and play around with my training. It's amazing how many niggling injuries you pick up as you get older so I'm really doing a lot of stretching and foam rolling these days. I'm also going to look into trying a bit of yoga.

I try and keep my diet nice and tight during the week and relax it a bit at the weekend. I'm not as obsessed with my training as I used to be and try to have a nice balance as I love to eat out and drink red wine.

    Here's a recent photo.

    Looking great.

I remember DC saying (during his training for CR?) That he trains hard during the week but then enjoys his food and drink at the weekend. I still follow this mantra today. :) -{ {[]

    I agree..
I have previously trained with Mr. Waterson (DC trainer for the Bond films) 4 years back.

Sunday was always an active rest day. So he would let me rest and eat what i want but he expects some activity in return, swimming was his reccomended one.

I’m sure however with Daniel the training was much more intense during the week so it would make more sense to give him the whole weekend to rest and eat !

Speaking of which, this whole thread makes me wanna go back to the gym life, it’s been almost a year ever since I became a father :) great job to those who are showing commitment in this thread.

That must have been a great experience training with Simon Waterson. Can you give us your thoughts on how it went? Was it really hard work?

    Yes it has !
I trained with him back in 2014. I didn’t want to make a big deal about it back then. It was for a personal life event.

    I highly reccomended him !

His program was tough yet very productive. He focuses on keeping your body in high intensity during workout. 4 months turnaround I was a whole different person. I went through 3 phases. He’s very selective of what you eat and provided his own list of supplements. He’s very strict and expects visible weekly improvements. Absolutely a great pleasure having this opportunity.

If it's not much of a mystery: any chance you could provide the supplements he told you to use? (along with the companies who make them)

That will probably be the closest to what Daniel Craig actually had to take.

I know he's been photographed with at least two BSN products. Both no-Xplode and cell mass. BSN makes some really good stuff. Both of them contain creatine, though. Which, I would only do in cycles... if you like your liver.

Since this was a training built around my own needs and goals, I can not claim if gave the same supplements to DC or others. (I was skinny, I wanted to gain some mass and bulk and have a defined body in 4 months deadline) so during each stage he would also change up some supplements suitable for that phase.

I was personally dying to ask about his work with DC but knowing the type of military man he is, I didn’t bother. Not once during our workout time together did he mention his work with another client. His focus is just you. Something I respected him a lot for.

Out of respect to his work privacy, I can only share a couple that I was personally told to get ,

First of all, He gave me a big list of UK & US versions of the same suppliements names and manufacturers.

For example, Since I live in the US, He had me take The ON platinum Hydro whey protein (which is btw, PURE MAGIC.. look it up !)
And YES absolutely, there is No-Xplode during pre :) He didn’t mention Cell Mass but he, however, required glutamine so I took Cellmass anyways since it was a great source of glutamine and amino acids.

If I remember correctly he used them around the time of Skyfall.

Don't forget guys - supplements are not a quick fix or a magic tonic ... they are very much an 'assistant' to helping you achieve your goals. No supplement is better than proper diet, rest and sleep. Personally I have preferred the Phd or ON brand products.

As a side note - if you are thinking of taking a supplement with creatine in it, make sure you drink plenty of water or your kidneys will hurt to hell.

I have yet to try it, it looked a bit rough but I'm planning on giving it a go.

In which Bond film do you think DC had his best physique? For me I would have to say it was Casino Royale.
    Yes. Considerably!
  • Yeah, it's CR for me also. Some say he looks too big or artificial but I thought he looked great.
He's certainty muscular but he didn't seem overly so, like John Cena or Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) for instance. Those guys are huge! :o

My goal is to look like DC in CR by next summer. Even if if I get 50% there I'll be thrilled.

He looks great in all the films but his Casino Royale physique is iconic and no doubt the root cause for thousands of men going to the gym and bulking up to look similar. Prior to 2006 Brad Pitt's lean and ripped body in Fight Club was seen as ideal but Craig sort of became the new ideal for men with his bigger and bulkier physique.

I thought his QoS physique was best. A little leaner. More Bondian.

I remember doing an article/blog with Turnbull & Asser and I spoke to the gent that fitted Craig for CR. His best quote was "....we kept having to adjust his shirts...his shoulder were like bowling balls at one point..."

    Bowling balls! Very visual....

This is the whole article about my visit to Turnball and there really is another good anecdote where they had to tell Daniel Craig to stop working out!

Great article. I've not seen that before but I do remember the rumours that Dunnhill were going to supply the clothing for the film that became Quantum.

Starting back with some very easy lifting this afternoon (admittedly only with baby weights) after reconstructive shoulder surgery ... dreading it & a tad nervous if being honest ... but little acorns I guess after a long time out with injury.

Hell of a long road ahead, but I'll get there in the end hopefully - even at 44 years young.

Hope your own fitness journeys are a smoother one than mine has been lately.
