With all due respect to the exquisite work that's been done on this egg, but why is it taking so long? And do you intend to sell it at Christies? Property of a lady.

This is the third egg that has got to this stage of manufacture, both of them the silversmiths involved were adding too much artistic licence, so they had to be scrapped 8-) They all are also in high demand as they work for Royalty and Sultans so we have to take a back seat sometimes. Because of the mistakes in the past each stage has to be inspected in person, it is not so easy doing so with just photos. Last year I ended up having a Heart attack and having Open Heart Surgery which in turn lead the silversmith to take on other projects, he is a good guy and in high demand, so it is a long drawn out stoopid egg project but when it is finished it will be stunning, I get goose bumps just seeing the work in person and it taking shape -{
Im only helping out Higgins run the project, I have nothing to do with if he is selling it or not, my concern is to get an SA egg or as close as possible being it is hand made in the same way as the originals {[] .
I echo that but would like to point out, that the heart attack was not because of the egg project.
When I've started all this, I thought that it would be much easier.
I had the right person and many pics.
First thing that we had to learn was, that there are no records.
Secondly, several different people worked on several different eggs.
If you look at the egg which has just been posted and compare it with my reference pic, you'll see a significant difference in many aspects.
So after that learning curve, we had to decide, which egg we would be going for and I have decided that I want the egg on the pic above.
We then made the mistake to wait twice to see the finished eggs because the silversmiths replied to our concerns "photographic angle - looks exactly like the reference".
Well, they did not!
On the third egg, we decided to approve step by step and you can imagine that this is all frustrating particularly for the silversmith.
They are all artists and proud about what they do. Now comes Bond fan and tells them what to do and what not do to and what they've done wrong and make it again and again.
Now you get an idea, why this takes so long.
And if we ever finish the egg, there will be people pinpointing us to the differences to the various eggs that have been made - not knowing how the process was really started.

I think Higgy Babe would get his stoopid egg earlier if he attempted to lay it himself ...... or was that what Pete was trying to do when he joined me in the zipper club?

Thanks for that danjaq_0ff {[] I'm sure when it's complete it will be worth the enormous effort.

Small update, the egg has been cut out finally and the centre section added, the next step is to get the inner egg enamelled and the stones added to the lattice work egg.
Finally, light is appearing at the end of the tunnel, and it's looking good too.
It will certainly be good to see it finished, it could come together quite quickly now as different people are taking on the different jobs, so hopefully while the inner egg is being enamelled the lattice egg will be having stones set, then all that needs to be done is the engraving and plating, oh and the coach casting.

I just saw the real egg at the Spy Museum in Washington DC, and would live to have a replica like this someday. Amazing work!
