    I liked the idea that instead of attacking an enemy HQ this Bond is on the defence.

    As a film maker yourself, can you deal with the somewhat contrived and loosely written (IMO) "Home Alone" ending?
    I keep seeing Home Alone referenced, when that type of thing was in plenty of films well before Home Alone. It's a classic defense tactic in movies.

    Well, 'cause Home Alone is a classic, of course. :))
    But then, the Ewoks did it first. ;)
    Dalton & Connery rule. Brozz was cool.

    It goes back much further than the Ewoks.

    But, that was a long time ago... :))

    it sucks that Home Alone gets referenced, as everytime i see the ending of Skyfall....i think of Home Alone now...(interestingly i never saw it! but i can figure out what happened.)

    i'd rather compare it to a classic Western Shootout!! OK Corral type of shootout!

    It seems though, without John Barry, or David Arnold, Bond movies are diminished severely for me.....

    Next time you're in Scotland, can I buy you a drink? -{

    Bit harsh on George Martin and Marvin Hamlisch, me thinks. Their scores were worthy of all but the very best of John Barry's.

    As for Thomas Newman. His score for Skyfall is pretty good overall. It may not sound Bondian compared to Barry and David Arnold but there's some really good stuff. 'Grand Bazaar', 'Jellyfish' and 'The Bloody Shot' are three examples that come to mind. I think it will (generally) be appreciated more in the years ahead than it is now.
