There has been no rain here for at least two weeks, and on many of these days we've even had blue sky!!
I'm both confused and shocked. What is this - should I worry? ?:)

I laughed at a Dr on the Jeremy Vine show this morning saying how
Halloween was an "American " Import It may be to England but
Us Celts in Scotland and Ireland have enjoyed our Pagan holiday for
centuries ( Sorry I don't know if it's a big thing in Wales ?)

Yes, that's true, TP. I recall bobbing for apples, a 50p in the apple tart and a turnip for a Jack-o-lantern here in NI in the Halloweens of yesteryear. That and my late father talking about "lang nebbed things" and "things that go bump in the night"!
What I would agree with is how it has become much more Americanised from the rather modest way that it used to be celebrated. That is an American import. All of this dressing up and "trick or treating" is new to me. Mind you, I live in the countryside. In fact, the first time I heard that phrase was the Greysteel massacre here in NI in 1993.

I agree I dislike the Americanism of " Trick or treat " .
I enjoy the games, organised fireworks and a good creepy
Horror film -{ i remember trying to bite apples suspended
By string in a doorway, as well as bobbing, and yes choking

We have a church which is called all hallows, that church is named in the doomsday book.
Also don't go overboard on your Halloween celebrations ! As I remember a documentary about an
island up in Scotland, When they put a virgin in a "Wicker man " and set it on fire !!
Now I'm all for a bit of fun, but that's taking things too far !

I believe that the last of these timeslip stories was featured in an episode of ITV's Strange but True programme in the mid-1990s.
