FOR GOODNESS SAKE!

IF I HAD A NICKEL FOR EVERY TIME THIS MAN SAYS "NOD AND A WINK" ON THIS DAD COMMENTARY, I'D BE WEALTHIER THAN THE BROCCOLIS!

This guy made one too many references to Bond films and you can tell by watching the commentary. Plus, he constantly interrupts Michael Wilson! Aggghhh! Let the man speak! He's probably got much more to say!

... My rant is done. Thanks for your time. :)

I don't think I have ever watched DAD with Lee Tamahori's commentary. But I believe you on your word with the nod and winks :P

This man is a serious danger to the Bond franchise. Clearly his vision was completly wrong, he should be kept away from this franchise as far as possible!

I believe he actually mentionend in the behind the scenes documentary that he believes CGI is the future of all movies, he believed CGI should eventually take over all action scene's in the Bond movies. This guy should do a pixar movie!

Another thing I dislike about him was that he was actually a supporter of the "Bond is a codename" theory. I believe he considered a cameo from Sean Connery to actually play the old James Bond for DAD. That would have completely jeopardized the entire franchise had that happenend! I'm sure Michael Wilson and Barbara Brocolli were against that. Tamahori was the worst director they ever picked for a Bond movie.

As my username suggests, I really like Die Another Day and I thought it was a thoroughly entertaining film in it's own right but I can't help but just cringe at some of the awful scenes throughout the film (Mostly the CGI stuff) and wonder what the hell Lee Tamahori was really trying with the whole thing?! I would certainly watch DAD over many other Bonds but I am sure glad Tamahori didn't return to the role of Director for another Installment cause who knows where the franchise would of ended up. (in the scrap heap probably)
....and the best he ever managed was a sermon on the mount.
  • I really like the job that Lee Tamahori did with Alex Cross back in the early Summer of 2001, in a little film called Along Came a Spider but that's neither here nor there.

I think he was the wrong choice as a director for a Bond film - some CGI hokum would have been more up his street. He's responsible for the very worst of the James Bond films, IMHO.

Same thing for me! I have it ranked #15 on my list because I did enjoy a lot of scenes! I thought the active camo was cool and I thought Zao made a memorable henchman. Plus, I'm a big Pierce Brosnan fan, so that was a bonus for me. The score is entertaining and the ice palace is remarkable. It's not that bad of a film at all, really. It's just I strongly disagree with Tamahori on a lot of his decisions.
