What/when was your Bond seminal moment?

1971, I was 7 years old, sitting in a cinema with my Mum and Dad watching Diamonds Are Forever, and I saw Connery fire a piton gun into the eaves of the Whyte House and swing into thin air above Vegas... And my life changed forever.

So when was your seminal moment, after which you dedicated your (inner) life to Bondmanship?

It was probably Live and Let Die, Goldfinger The Living Daylights and Diamonds Are Forever that I first saw on TV as a child - these showings in 1993-94 really led me into the world of Bond, James Bond and twenty years later I still find it all fascinating! That's why I'm here on AJB forums!

Other Bond films I saw early include Dr. No in 1996, Licence to Kill, You Only Live Twice in 1995, The Man with the Golden Gun in 1993-94, The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker (January 1994), For Your Eyes Only in 1996, AVTAK in 1995, and OP by video in 1996.

All fondly held early James Bond memories! :)

Casino Royale for me. I had seen some of Pierce Brosnan Bonds but was way too young to fully appreciate them. I was 11 for CR and I loved it. Though I had to wait until it came out on dvd cause I couldn't get in. I'm assuming because of THAT scene :p But my first ever memory of Bond was watching TWINE in a holiday home when the were galeforce winds and rain outside. One of my favouite memories though I must have been 6 or 7

For me it must have been Moonraker, with happened to be on the tv somewere in the 90'ies. I was watching it with my dad as a very young kid. I remember being very impressed by the PTS of Bond jumping out of an airplane without an parachute. The Bond theme sounded pretty cool to me, and I remember my dad explaining a lot of stuff about the movie to me. Like how moving forward in the air made Bond move faster, and how heavy Bond became in the space shuttle tester. Ah the memories!

At that time Pierce Brosnan was Bond, I was aware of him being James Bond, but never really saw any of the movies yet. I remember my dad explaining to me that the James Bond in Moonraker was an older actor playing the role, there were several actors that portrayed the role. Shortly after I must have fallen in love, because watching James Bond was cool! And I still feel that way :))

I was already a 007 fan but watching Goldeneye on the big screen I decided I want to direct a 007 film and have set my sights on Bond 30. This is the whole reason I'm a filmmaker.
So really James Bond decided my career path!

The first time I saw Goldfinger, that sealed it for me. I became a Bond fan for life!

Not trying to be a party-pooper but I believe I made this thread last year on the subject.

An unusual one - but it was my first Bond film in the cinema - Die Another Day, the seminal moment being 'saved by the bell'. Seriously when you are 9 and you've just watched that hovercraft chase then Brosnan comes out with that line it's quite something. Also, being my first Bond film I actually got to appreciate the rest of the film from the point of view of someone who couldn't compare it - so I went on to thoroughly enjoy the whole movie and then the entire series!

I knew I was a Bond fan when I watched Tomorrow Never Dies in the early 2000's when they screened it at my local dollar theater. But I knew what James Bond meant to me when he arrived at his home in Skyfall on November 9th, similar to when I went to my old home the month before.

Thanks all for sharing your stories. It's interesting how some element of Bond resonates with each of us, from the big stunts to the more introspective moments...

I think it was when i first bought the TND's soundtrack, and the first track "white Knight" opens with the gunbarrel music, and from there i was immediately hooked.
