Apparently Adele is being lined up to do the theme song for Bond 24. Just wonder what everyone thinks about it? I'm undecided, Skyfall was a class Bond song and I'd like her to do another. Undecided whether it should be straight after Skyfall though
I've also read about it. In my oppinion, Skyfall was one of the best and memorable Bond songs in years. If her return would mean another class Bond song, it's fine with me! (I can understand the two in a row thing being a bit to much though)
I think after the Oscar and BAFTA wins, there would be far too much pressure
on Adele to write and sing another theme so soon. Mabey after a few Films.
I do think she is very talented and it would be a real feather in her cap to
do two theme songs back to back. Just IMHO it would be a mistake. I can
see the Crap the poor girl would have to put up with if it didn't get nominated
or was considered not as good as Skyfall.
"I've been informed that there ARE a couple of QAnon supporters who are fairly regular posters in AJB."
I don't think it would be a bad song, all her albums are good. They're not my type of music but I accept they're good songs. However, I think all her songs are pretty similar so the song for Bond 24 would be a lot like Skyfall which probably isn't a good idea. Those who like Skyfall the film would love Bond 24 to be as good as it but we don't want a carbon copy with just a few tweaks here and there
"You are about to wake when you dream that you are dreaming"
I don't understand where the idea that Bond 24 and Skyfall will be the same is coming from. The end of Skyfall made it clear to me that it's actually going to be a lot different!
Firstly, we're going to have a new M. There's a change right from the start and it will be interesting to see Mallorys take on things after 7 films with Judi Dench's M. On top of that, we'll presumably have Naomie Harris as Moneypenny in office this time - I don't see her running about like a Bond Girl again AND Sam Mendes got so much praise for his work on Skyfall! Yes if he directs Bond 24 it will have a similar style but how is that a bad thing? If anything he's proved to us all that it would be a good thing! Skyfall has of course put a lot of pressure on the series to come up with another great film to me the end of Skyfall gave me hope. Big hopes! Craigs Bonds so far have been unconventional and the final scene of Skyfall seemed like a clear set up for a good old classic. If anything, we're probably going to get the most 'different' Bond film we've had in 10 years - because it will actually be conventional again.
I only meant the same in terms of quality. My point was that we wouldn't want two films straight after each other which were too similar and it's the same with the theme song which is what I think will happen if Adele does it again.
"You are about to wake when you dream that you are dreaming"
1. Gunbarrel at the start
2. Massive PTS to establish plot, with a hook to later in the film that we don't realise at the time.
3. Title sequence complete with great song, I don't mind Adele returning but Dame Shirley would be even better.
4. Bond and Moneypenny flirting and mentioning, even if only briefly, something from Skyfall...maybe Bond getting shot or their close shave in Shanghai.
5. Briefing in Ms office, Q in attendance with one gadget a la Moonraker.
6. The mission...Bond back on skis or underwater would be great.
7. Felix Leiter.
8. Finale.
Right now tear me to shreds. I love the DC era as you all know, but all this Bond out on his own, out for revenge, personal stuff has been done now. I just wanna see him on a straightforward mission, sent by M for queen and country!
According to the official James Bond Facebook page:
Sam Mendes Will Not Direct The Next 007
“It has been a very difficult decision not to accept Michael and Barbara’s very generous offer to direct the next Bond movie," said the Oscar-winning director. "Directing SKYFALL was one of the best experiences of my professional life, but I have theatre and other commitments, including productions of Charlie And The Chocolate Factory and King Lear, that need my complete focus over the next year and beyond."
Bond's next director has yet to be decided, but producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli had nothing but praise for Mendes: “We thoroughly enjoyed working with Sam. He directed our most successful Bond movie ever, SKYFALL. We would have loved to have made the next film with him but completely respect his decision to focus on other projects and hope to have the opportunity to collaborate with him again.”
Expect Bond 24 to adhere to the sort of exploration of Bond's emotional character that Skyfall embraced. Screenwriter John Logan would not divulge plot details, but he did reveal to the Financial Times, "Fleming's courage in showing Bond's fear and vulnerability and depression was really interesting and something that a modern audience can accept. I think Skyfall demonstrated that they want more layers to that character. And those are the layers that Fleming wrote."
Personally, I like backstory and character emotion. It makes the films, and Bond in particular, more interesting and deeper.

Thats too bad about Mendes. I'd rather have a director who can be trusted because there's always the possibility of somebody putting out another QoS or DAD where you get the feeling the director had never seen a Bond film before.

if its held in check it's fine, but too much would be disastrous. One of (the for me) negative elements in recent times is the Bondiverse being inward looking and self generating storylines. We could debate when precisely it started but TWINE is as good a place as any.Its important that the films are not about Bond, his life, or psychopathology. These can and should emerge during the narrative but should not be it's central concern. We have seen far too much of this in the Dench era. So my concern is precisely that, a concern that a fragile balance could be disturbed if more back story was a focus. I could almost smell a Mendes-Babs- Craig love fest that would not be able to resist a narrative centred upon the death of Bonds parents. Enough already. lets get Bond back out in the world, exposing his inner turmoil along the way if he must.
I wouldn't mind little mentions of back story here and there but nothing too much plot driven. Little mentions here and there about how bond blew up his childhood home could be a running joke or something like that.
There is no need for spending much time on Bond's past in Bond 24, especcially since Skyfall was so backstory heavy. Perhaps they could include a nod to Bond's background in the navy, possibly a SBS raid at the end?
I don't think we need any more back story in Bond 24. I think Skyfall covered the majority of it and looking at the past and future fitted it with Skyfall being the 50th anniversary film. We need to look solely on the future now!

I want a Pre Title with Bond in Australia, being his Badass self he finds a Guard/soldier with the Quantum Q in his wallet....finally we met Blofeld halfway through the film as well...

I can't wait to see Bond back in M's old office with the double doors again. When was the last time they had that? The Living Daylights?

Didn't the new M's office in Skyfall feature double doors?
Yeah just briefly at the end. I mean like its gonna be really cool seeing him get missions from that room again with Moneypenny sitting next door. Just like the old days.

I agree, that would be a nice change. )
I would also like this very much. Three films in has been a long haul to get 'back to business.' In the manner that the end of Skyfall sets up.

I'm against the idea of a duet for a Bond song. History has proved that it doesn't work. Another Way to Die was an absolute shocker.
I'd rather Dame Shirley Bassey sing the new Bond song, alone.
well said Brav. I would only add avoid more back story.
