That's why I said "can be seen"; as much as I love it, I like TMWTGG better for the reasons you mention. :007)
Dalton & Connery rule. Brozz was cool.

I liked LALD, it is probably one of my favourite Moore movies. The highlights for me:

    - Locations. Love the New Orleans and Bayou scenes.
    - Music. Although not John barry, I did like the George Martin soundtrack and loved the Paul McCartney song.
    - Aligator stunt. That was awesome, I dont think anyone would be crazy enough to do such a stunt.
    - Speed boat chase. Pretty cool, although it lacked music and was interrupted a few times.
    - Solitaire. A great Bond girl.
    - Mr Big. A great Villain. Indeed a Bond alter ego.
    - Henchmen. Probably the Bond movie with the best henchmen. Baron samedi and Tee-hee where both excellent and classic.

    The lows:

    - Sherrif J.W. Pepper. Never liked his character, and I am sure he was written in the movie to make fun at dumb white people, to avoid a racist stigma. To me it is a wrong decission.
    - Agent Carver. Not attractive, but worst of all: totally unbelievable to be a CIA agent.

all in all, a good Bond movie.

I really like this movie ever since the first time I saw it. I think Moore was very good in this movie, the action is good and Mr Big might be one of the best villains in the series.

I don’t really know many people that absolutely hate this movie. My girlfriend ranks LALD in her top 5.

LALD was a great debut for Moore as Bond. There's a lot to like about this film. For me, it's on par with OP and TMWTGG as Moore's third best outing and it sits just outside my top ten. It's a really fun film with a lot of great set pieces, a fantastic array of villains, and a great Bond girl. However, like all Bond films, it has its weaknesses: the story is very thin (although nonetheless entertaining), the boat chase is overly long (but has moments of greatness) and Kananga's demise is too over the top.

'Live and Let Die' 40 years on.
This time 40 years ago, audiences were getting their first glimpse of the third actor to take on the part of James Bond. The actor was Roger Moore, and the film was 'Live and Let Die.' Opening in US cinemas on 27th June 1973 before hitting the UK on 6th July, it was the eighth entry in the movie series (adapted from Ian Fleming's second 007 novel), and the third to be directed by Guy Hamilton. Through its shift in tone, content and obviously casting, 'Live and Let Die' ushered in a new era for the Bond series which has long divided fans; yet four decades on, it remains a largely satisfying outing for 007, with a number of the most iconic sequences from the series, and an edge of the bizarre which helps it stand apart from the rest.

God, I love this movie so much. It's by far my favorite of them all. Why do so much people hate it?

    Welcome to AJB, FoS.
I think you'll find many who like LALD very much.

    Absolutely {[] and Welcome Fillet-of-Soul.
LALD was the first Bond I remember as a kid, pestering my big bro
To take me to see. So I have a soft spot for it and I think Tee-Hee
Is an underrated Henchman, as I think he's brilliant. Also the croc stunt
    Stands the test of time, it still looks amazing. -{

Just watched LALD this past weekend and man do I love it. Was always in the 2nd half of my rankings but going to have to reassess. So much fun, action abound, great start of summer flick for me.

I actually think most of the movie holds up better than the films before and after it despite the 70s vibe it gives off. Sheriff Pepper works for me in this one and the film has a great balance of serious action with carefree fun.

I also think it's Sam Mendes and Daniel Craig's favourite Bond film.

    Thanks for the welcome.
despite the 70s vibe it gives off.

That early 70s vibe is one of the things that I find charming about it. :)

Agreed FoS! I shouldn't have said "despite". I greatly enjoy the atmosphere and vibe the film gives off. The voodoo, New Orleans, harlem, I dig it all!

Totally agree with the love for LALD. This was my first bond as a kid but looking back now I think it still holds up. I really like the voodoo stuff and think it shows that the writers were trying to do something different, roger is in great shape, the action is innovative and fresh and the music really helps to drive the movie. The criticism that this is a blaxploitation film is tired and sloppy criticism. The film brings black characters / actors to the forefront and the scenes in Harlem bring more gritty realism than any other bond film. Watching it now, it still works - only let down by a slightly limp finish with mr big

me to ,LALD has it all , the locations , the baddies , the girls, that huge dirty Harry style gun, and the lovely Geoffrey Holder ,(who was in DR Doolittle ,and did the voice over for Charlie and the chocolate factory)

heres where BONDS car crashes in the opening part of LALD (photo taken Feb 2014 by me )

    Welcome Fillet! (Pussy, no jokes!)

LALD is a great Bond film, a powerful debut for Sir Roger and Yaphet Koto is a classic Bond baddie as Dr Kananga. It only creeps me out cause I first saw it when I was quite young and the Voodoo stuff still bothers me now.

I thought QoS had been established as the Bond Bovril?
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?
