Mendes won't direct Bond 24.

Apparently, a bunch of money wasn't enough to seal the deal. Let the speculation begin. My money's on Matthew Vaughn.

Layer Cake has most everything I'd like in a Bond film. 'Cept Craig of course... {:)
Roger Moore 1927-2017
He would be great though.
Im not particularly sad about Mendes decision, Skyfall was great but for some reason I cant see the tone changing if Mendes continued and I think Bond needs to kick on from the last few films and doesn't need anymore redemption, rebirth or revenge
Vaughn's not directing the next X-Men installment, Bryan Singer is. Vaughn wrote the screenplay and has some producer role. Shouldn't stop him from directing Bond 24.
According to BBC screenwriters Neal Purvis and Robert Wade are done with the franchise as well.
I agree with Moore Than that perhaps Mendes feels like he's done a good enough job for a Bond film and would risk loosing what he's done for the franchise in Bond 24. Or maybe it would take so much focus that he wouldn't be able to give his 150% while working on other projects.
Could not agree more. It would be fine to do another one at some point, but Skyfall completed an arc, and it's time to move on. I'd like Daniel to finally give us the complete package now all the elements are in place and handover afterwards.
-Casino Royale, Ian Fleming
I'm not upset about Mendes. SkyFall is well-made, but not close to being the smartest Bond film. It sacrificed believability a lot of times in ways that weren't part of the Craig era. So many lines and reveals. Too new to be a classic, and too stiff to be genius. It sure as hell overtly tried for the classic (and sometimes cheesily so) Bond elements from past entries.
I'd still rate it an A film, but I don't want it to happen again.
I'll take Campbell or a new director over Mendes.
I would prefer Joe Wright. I guess that would mean that Dario Marianelli would score the movie.
Joe Wright is a total visionary. He uses colors and Keira Knightley like nobody's business. Atonement, Pride & Prejudice, Hanna, Anna Karenina. Some of the most gorgeous, high-budget films of recent history, and personally, that I've ever seen.
He is one of my favorite directors.
If you haven't seen Hanna, you've missed some of the most praised fight choreography ever, with ridiculously few cuts compared to most films, especially of the post-Bourne and Quantum of Solace era.
Eric Bana fights in Hanna: http://youtu.be/DZzcxcKPcrI?t=1m42s
As for music, Dario Marianelli's score for Anna Karenina was Oscar-nominated this year, and his work with and without Joe Wright has been excellent.
That said, David Arnold has me forever charmed by his Casino Royale score that matched fast and elegant Bond so well. I'd take him back over any other in a heartbeat.
I think some directors who Don't understand fight scenes film
everthing from various angles, then cut it together with quick
cuts to try and make it look interesting.
While a Talented Director who knows what he's doing can film it
as shown, in One shot. Which is more impressive -{
Guy Ritchie is 'bookies favourite' to direct the next Bond film
Oh Gawd no....
-Casino Royale, Ian Fleming
Brilliant first Guy Ritchie now this great piece of news

Regarding Guy Ritchie, I think the closest he should get to Craig now is something outside the Bond series, if anything. Layer Cake was at one point almost Guy Ritchie's film, which is obvious when you watch it. I really don't have much desire to see what he would do with Craig or Bond after the very satisfying results of Layer Cake.
His style isn't particularly suited to Bond.
As for the link to Weisz, she was supposedly considered for Quantum of Solace and SkyFall, but it hasn't ever happened. I imagine the Bourne role may make the Bond girl opportunity very slim at this point.
Shame, as DC may actually have some chemistry with her )
Director. Snatch and Two smoking barrels are Classics. Even
the Sherlock Holmes Movies are Fun. So if he gets the Gig
I'd be very Happy, But it's still early days who knows who
else will be in the running. )
on AJB, that he has too much work lined up to do Bond at the moment.
Although there's always a future Bond movie, so Fingers crossed. :007)
I think you can rule out Christopher Nolan regards Bond 24. It has been announced that he will be making a film called Interstellar, a science fiction space adventure involving "time travel and alternate dimensions, which sees a group of explorers travel through a wormhole". Interstellar is due to be released on the 7th November 2014.

What about Danny Boyle? After all, he's already directed a Bond film, which seemed to go down well!
Danny Boyle ruled himself out a couple of months ago, saying that big budget films didn't suit him. He said he was not good with large amounts of money, that his experience working on 'The Beach' had put him off.
