I'd have to agree that it might be one of the worst... the story plodded along, there were way too many self indulgent "we are growing old for this" moments, there were weird plot inconsistincies, and Bond just watching two presumably innocent people die then launching into action was just... what?
This could move out of the worst on repeat viewings... maybe. But I don't know if I want to watch it again. Had a hard time finishing it once.

Yeah, I kept expecting Danny Glover to pop up with a "I'm getting too old for this s**t" line. LOL
Personally, I'd like the thread title changed. I don't think SF is one of the 'worst'.
How about "Why Skyfall wasn't all that". )
My sentiments, exactly, Blackleiter!
I actually agree with Chrisisall that being more sober minded, SF isn't necessarily among the worst, but it's more along the lines of "it just wasn't all that." I just saw a similar thread over at CBn and I'm curious if it has the same players? But back to topic, the way SF has been bandied around by some people, it reminds me what Steve Martin had to say about an extended 31-day orgasm...was SF that good?
"...the purposeful slant of his striding figure looked dangerous, as if he was making quickly for something bad that was happening further down the street." -SMERSH on 007 dossier photo, Ch. 6 FRWL.....
My initial response to this thread was going to be "Because it wasn't, that's why!"

You forget, my dear Blackleiter, that I am a Fleming Purist, sir! No joke intended. Deadly serious on this side as a backwoodsman for the literary James Bond. No monkeying with the James Bond character.
Hell yes.
Absolutely positively.
My sentiments exactly.
Good for you, SILHOUETTE MAN.
The top 7 Bond films: 1) Dr No. 2) From Russia With Love. 3) Thunderball. 4) On Her Majesty's Secret Service. 5) For Your Eyes Only. 6) The Living Daylights. 7) Licence to Kill.
You Only Live Twice in the running for worst Bond film - joke, right? 8-)

As if Fleming's Bond hasn't been "monkeyed with" pretty much throughout the film series! 8-)
Totally agreeing with your point, but it goes in cycles (and, I guess, always will) and what any given Bond film gains Flemingwise on one point it often loses on another.
I'd suggest that most people regard CR as fairly faithful to Fleming while the much-derided DAD wasn't; yet on closer inspection, DAD did have a fair chunk of reasonably Fleming-based material (there's a lot of the MR novel in there, for example) or references (too many to list) or pastiches (the Raoul character) while more or less the entire first half of CR wasn't in the book and conforms more to the cinematic interpretation of 007.
First of all the timeline is all out of date. Judi Dench should never have been in the reboot because she was Brosnans era. If CR, QOS and SF are meant to be before DN then surely in those times it would have been a male M? Why is Felix Lighter and Moneypenny now black/white/black? The Aston Martin in SF is similar to the one from GF but bond hasn't done that mission yet has he? Daniel Craig has done 4 missions as a 00 agent in QOS and now he is too old and past it. We haven't got started yet!
Just to tackle this point (and I'm sure it has been discussed at length in the 9 pages of this topic which already exists but...), If you start asking Bond continuity between films to make perfect sense then you are going to destroy the franchise. Don't you think it's weird that Bond never ages, while the people around him get older and older, and are gradually replaced when they retire? Don't you think it's amazing that he's accomplished so much in his career as a spy, and yet is still able to work "undercover"? All of this is, of course, impossible of you are going to put every Bond film into a chronological canon, so you just have to suspend your disbelief for a bit and enjoy it for what it is!
Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice and everyone dies.
