Now that I've got mine I use it every weekend! I especially like it if the weather in London is not so nice because it is waterproof. Regardless of the cost and link to Bond, I figure Barbour jackets are built tough and meant to be used in way worse weather than I go out in.

Others have said it before me, but it is a warm and comfortable jacket, so definitely trying to get my money's worth out of it

I had mine long before Skyfall and I use it in the field regularly in temperate climates. It's a bit battered and scuffed from pushing through brambles and being used as a sit mat, but it's still a good looking coat. Worn it in the rain loads. Not as good as Gore-tex or ventile, but it does the job when the weather is mild.

Yep, fantastic jacket for taking the dog out in the rain, or just in cool, misty weather. Incredibly warm for how light is it.

I wouldn't risk it. It doesn't say rainproof anywhere on mine. Or is 'german rain' a euphemism for the strange antics you get up to at night.

Is "sit mat" also a euphemism or a misspelling too?

Wearing mine in any weather. Not paid £400 for it to sit in a wardrobe for most of the time.
Barbours should last for many many years.

Hey, what do you mean with "misspelling too"? :D Mocking on my crap english?
And shouldn't there be a "," in front of "too"?

I simply copied the term from his previous post, so if, it's his misspelling :D

It is storming here in Switzerland a beauty and the jacket is great for warmth and against the rain, I have been doing a fair bit of walking and a touch of climbing and have found that after prolonged use it soaks on the inside and does not dry easy less you pull it inside out. Leads me to believe that it doesn't allow the body to breathe much. Anyone else had the same effect?

Waxed cotton is very waterproof, but does not breathe.

The only way to let your body breathe are some holes or flaps in the jacket construction - best and most effective, also with Goretex clothing is to open the zipper for some seconds ;)

The waterairtight construction has one more good thing in the case of Asp9mm: He smells far less unless the zippers all remain closed :D

yeah was starting to get that feeling. I take it off when i am inside but have to turn it inside out to dry.

That is great news for Asp, does he really smell that bad?

It#s a very exclusive club which's mission is to bring out the truth that Dalton was the weakest Bond of all times. It's a counter-movement to the usual fanboys praising him hard-edged because he read some books.
If you watch his movies closely, you'll realize that he breaks out in tears very often:

I wore mine to work one day and it just so happens a scumbag sticks a knife through it. Lucky for me my body armour stopped it from doing any more damage.

Oh well, it's off to Barbour for repairs, but at least it's a real "action" jacket now.
