I wore mine to work one day and it just so happens a scumbag sticks a knife through it. Lucky for me my body armour stopped it from doing any more damage.
Oh well, it's off to Barbour for repairs, but at least it's a real "action" jacket now.
WHAT? WHY? are you a bouncer?
Bouncers deal with way more pretty ladies than I do. I'm in law enforcement.

I don't have the lodge jacket, but I do have several wax jackets from various manufacturers. My B-bour Beaufort is 13 yo and I have worn it heavily. Exellent jacket, wear you Barbours, the more worn they are, the better they look. I have the detachable fleece liner for my Beaufort so I can even wear it in winter. Only one word of advice, since they are waxed, you can't use detergents to wash them, only cold water. Therefore my Beaufort smells like a rat carcas and nowadays my wife will not be seen with me in public if I'm wearing my Barbour.

I know ultimately in the end, we do what we want with our garments. This is an out of curiosity thought. Since the jacket is not breathable, because of the wax cotton, would it make sense to not re-wax it so that it will eventually "breathe?"

Hi.
No, it's not the wax, it's the extremely dense cotton fabric that makes the waxing possible that contributes to the jacket being a non breather.
Hope this helped.

Even if not waxing the cotton helped, then it wouldn't be waterproof anymore...as much as I love the jacket and it looks great on me I'm very aware that it's a rain/cold weather jacket. Thus I'll only wear it in certain situations.
Now, if only I had the full wardrobe - BR peacoat for cold dry weather and Menlo for cool dry weather to supplement my Barbour for cool/cold wet weather...
Mine had a proper soaking yesterday with its hood zipped in its correct place.
Apart from the odd shower this was the second serious soaking and I mean SOAKING it has had. Popping it onto today it certainly feels like it has loosened up which is what I thought last time. Any more of this and I will be looking for a small.

I found mine retracted a bit after a proper thunder shower and drying subsequently, but soon as I wore it, it eased back into shape
