Hi Guys
This is my first post and I thought finally I would come out the closet and say hello and congratulate you on a class site.
I have always admired Bond since I was a kid. However since DC took the reins I have realised although we have age in common (although i just younger ) we share a similar style in dress and I know he has great input into Bond's current wardrobe. From each film I have seen something I liked and purchased accordingly. When worn you always get a favourable comment or two (so much for being unnoticed as a spy somewhat)
That's said just after CR came out my wife told me of a woman who called a phone in to say she felt her husband was turning into James Bond dressing like him etc? We both laughed and I thought fancy doing that. Within 12 months and without really intending to I had bought Sunspel Polo and an Omega PO and some Tom Ford shades. I should have seen that was the start of a rocky road to obsession and credit card spanking and damn you EBay! I had a few things like a SMP and Turnbull ties from the Brosnan era (well I worked in London so why not a treat or two).
However now some years later my wardrobe and accessories have grown and OMG I am turning into Bond how the hell did that happen? Latest purchase Lodge Jacket (OK truth) outfit complete, including scarf and god someone help me this is a damn expensive hobby when you throw in setters etc as well! But seriously I owe you thanks, got the sizing right first time on the Barbour due to guidance on this site! Billy Read next when I am n NY later this year.
That said I am lucky enough to enjoy some International business travel and always travel in the style of bond (generally suited) and often get access to lobbies and lounges through the way I am dressed suits open doors for some reason (throw in free seat upgrade as well) so it does have a benefit
Funny thing happened to me..... I was going on vacation last August dressed in my black Sunspel, white jeans and Ryder 3's with my Tom Ford Sun glasses (naturally PO on wrist). Only too meet someone else dressed exactly the same in duty free! A polite smile and nod we both knew the score :-) and we went on our way.
So how did it happen to you? Was it deliberate or accident? Does the long haired accountant know how much you invest (I balance with myself by saying the money would earn sod all in a bank right now so why not invest in quality items enjoy them and sell should the need arise - thank you Omega my PO is now worth more second hand than when I bought in new thanks to you price hikes!)
Do share
Cheers
By the way well done guys this site is a great read and source of material /info and some of you should apply for the SIS/ CIA or FSB the things you have tracked track down - would make JB himslef proud - if he were real of course! B-)

My name is Bond, Basildon Bond - I have letters after my name!

Pretty similar circumstances for me too. I've collected Bond items since the 1970s, but it wasn't until I saw Goldeneye in 1995 that I bought my first Bond tie... The rest is history and i grab any opportunity to dress like Bond that I can, like many members here.
The latest DC Bonds have probably have probably the most realistic and appealing clothes too, unlike earlier films when you never saw Bond in jeans (Dr No excepted). And the black polo shirt, white jeans and brown boots look just rocks.
i haven't had any airline upgrades sadly but I live in hope!
Thanks - yes the QOS look is rather cool, various suit and tie combos for meetings and work but my favourite is the Italian Lakes Tom Ford shades, Black shawl neck cardigan and levis sta prest with the Ryders (I live in those boots) - sheer class. Definitely a style thing for me but I see some true die hards on this site and the level of detail for some is truly amazing!
I only posted because I have been a lurker for some time and had some spare time yesterday and I looked at my wardrobe planning a clear out and then realised just how many combo's I owned across the DC era (and a little before). Some genuine items (watches, shades and items of clothing some in the style due to price and availability of originals etc). Plus I got a comment recently from my son 'you're dressed like James Bond in QOS' so I think he is catching on - I told him they are all investments and his when I depart this-life to keep him quiet Or was it to stop him telling the good lady who never watches the films - ignorance is bliss.
Tip for the upgrades Step 1 - Join as many frequent flyer schemes as possible (airlines always look after their own), Step 2 - For international flights wear a suit it always looks like you are going or coming from something important and no one takes a second look if you get upgraded from Economy to Premium, Business and 1st Class (looks like you should be there anyway and lastly Step 3 - Always have a good yarn ready for when someone asks why the suit. Mine is usually econo seat was booked last min by work and I am off to an important meeting thats why I am on the red eye over night etc. Since 2000 that approach has got me one inflight upgrade to 1st class, 2 to business class and 1 to premium and one offer to use the crew accn on a packed 747 flight on a red eye to London but I put that down to a friendly male attendant so politely refused!(there are some things I will not follow in the footsteps of Bond 'who says its my first time!'). Harder now as the airlines really do pack the flights but always worth a try
I guess as some would say think like JB and who know what you can blag! B-)
Cheers
Everyone here is really friendly and helpful.

We're only going through this life once and it goes fast, so you might as well If one can,
make yourself happy!
BTW Funny title for this thread! It seems the most popular part of this forum is being in the closet! )
Throw in the 50th last year where I visited Bond in Motion and the kit auctioned at Christies and my interest grew!
There are some true die hards on this site and I tip my bowler to you all. I don't consider myself in that league just an incidental acquirer of various items (yeah right).
Good to touch base finally and do keep up the good work!
Cheers
P.S Well it's either the closet or in front of a camera! B-)
