    :)) It was one of my predictions to my Daughter last week. As it ties in with the very first
    Episode, when Sherlock made some deductions about Watson from his phone. ;)

    Yes, totally. I did not see that coming. Still, the series isn't reaching the highs it did earlier.

    I do feel that way myself, perhaps this is a good time to stop.

    Or take a hiatus while everyone gets their act together without pressure?

    Sadly I think Hollywood is calling, so this may be the last series. In the future a one of special
    Is all we may get. :#

    True, unfortunately.
    I wonder if the gun that Sherlock threw into the Thames landed near where Bond's Walther is....?
  • ThunderpussyThunderpussy Behind you !Posts: 63,792MI6 Agent
    :)) In spectre as Bond throws his gun away I always imagine in my mind a voice calling out ..
    " Ah! Who the F**k threw that ?" In a Naked Gun sort of way.

    Again, I enjoyed it...it's about the relationships as much as the crime solving -{

    I loved the bit where he was being tracked by Mycroft through the streets of London.

    Great bit of humour...

    Some very funny moments, I loved the bits involving the car. Like who was driving it
    And not letting anyone borrow it. :D

    Well I have to admit I thought that episode was a cracker! Having been critical of season 3 and last weeks episode my expectations weren't high but I thought it was mostly terrific. A couple of little niggles here and there but mostly top knotch. Let's hope next weeks episode can be as strong -{ -{

    I've enjoyed both of the new episodes, and am looking forward to the series finale even though nothing in the last couple of series has equalled the excellent series 1 and 2. In 'The Lying Detective' I thought that Toby Jones made a particularly memorable and menacing villain. Episode 3 has been the high point of every series for me so far, so I hope that this trend continues with 'The Final Problem.'

    What was once an unmissable series has turned into a confused and banal offering. Maybe it's Cumberbatch's fault in insisting that the series keeps pushing the boundaries. Instead of concentrating on providing a coherent storyline it's trying so hard to be "right on" clever that it's missed the whole point of providing compelling entertainment. Parts of it reminded me that it was trying to be like The Prisoner but failing hopelessly. I won't be watching any more.
    Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.

    Well, I'm not going THAT far- am certainly planning to watch "The Final Problem" on Sunday, although with much less anticipation than previously.

    It's grumpy old git syndrome for me, Barbel, I find I have less patience in watching TV and movies nowadays, if they don't strike a chord in me quickly then I just give up.

    The problem is an old one ....... Too much personal growth
    Stories. Our hero has to learn an emotional lesson, many
    TV shows and films suffer from it.

    As I said before...I've really enjoyed these last two episodes...I wonder if expectations were artificially raised as it's been a year since the last episodes...and you know tv programmes seldom live up to the hype ?

    I too have enjoyed them the last one I thought was
    Really good, although I'm watching with a little sadness
    As I think this is the end of the show.

    I would be interested to know if the viewing figures are up, down or stable compared to previous series. Most of the people I have spoken to have lost interest in it now.

    The viewing figures are down as to when the show goes out 'live'...I don't believe 'catch-up' figures are in yet...
    I think this is the first time I've watched the series as it's transmitted, I normally record them and then watch them over a couple of days...

    My complaint about the entire Sherlock program is that every episode seems to be about 15-30 minutes too long: once it looks like something is over they keep adding on and adding on. Of course, there was a great "reveal" at the end of the last episode, but I still feel that 20 minutes could have been cut out. My "grumpy old git" addition to this conversation.

    Excellent music in this weeks episode, Dave Arnold getting very close to TWINE and CR with some bits :)

    :)) Yes, some familiar cues ;) I thought the Island sets looked very Bond too -{

    I thought the whole bit about Sherlock being in the boot of an Aston Martin was a nod to QOS.

    The Final Problem- first episode this series that I've really enjoyed, and am looking forward to re-watching.

    I liked it--the first episode in a while to really justify the 90-minute length, and it had some enjoyable twists and turns. Solidarity, Brother Barbel!

    Totally, HB! {[]
    Sir Miles, it's odd that you liked the first two of this series and disliked the third, while I felt the opposite. (Of course, "dislike" is relative- any episode of the series is worth watching IMHO)

    I thought "Problem" brought everything together nicely and set us up for a stand-alone adventure that doesn't dig into anyone's past and bring up unnecessary longlost siblings, something which I'd really enjoy. You know, just like the end of "Skyfall". :))

    I thought that was odd as well - well, not odd - but I did enjoy the first two FAR more...I thought this was SO far removed from Holmes that it made little sense...it smacked too much of "look how CLEVER we are" that it forgot to actually include any narrative...it's not totally without charm or interest, I just found it 'meh'...at least Gatiss got to play out all his Bond fantasies :))
    A massive let down in an otherwise excellent series...such a pity they had to end on that...

    Anyone else notice the Dr No similarities in the island cells and the tasks?
