Benedict Cumberbatch missed out on playing suave superspy James Bond in a video game after showing up at the audition in scruffy clothes.
The Star Trek Into Darkness actor was in the running to play a digital version of 007, but he blew his chance when he wore casual clothing to his screen test.
He explains, "I once got the chance to play James Bond in a computer game. But when I got to the audition there were men in their late 40s in dinner jackets there. I went in casual wear.
"I thought I would shake it up though and I started to dive over sofas and do all the gun poses and I did not get a call. I am still waiting."
I've been told this was probably for Bloodstone.

Series 1 'The Blind Banker' is now available on the BBC iPlayer until Friday 31st May, which is when BBC Three will be broadcasting Series 1 'The Great Game' at 9pm.
Sherlock is going to San Diego Comic-Con for the first time,The panel will include Steven Moffat (co-creator, executive producer and writer), Mark Gatiss (co-creator, executive producer and writer) and Sue Vertue (producer). We’re told the actors will not be attending (not too surprising, since Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman are landing big-screen projects) but there will be “surprises.”

Mark Gatiss will appear in the fourth season of HBO’s Thrones. The British writer-producer-actor has written Doctor Who novels and episodes of the BBC cult classic, as well as acted on the long-running series (since 2007, he’s credited to three different roles on IMDB). In addition, Gatiss is the co-creator and co-star of another Brit-based favorite, Sherlock, where he plays Holmes’ dryly mysterious brother Mycroft. Now he’s booked on HBO’s fantasy hit next year.

The last series is being repeated on the BBC at the moment, recorded the first 2 episodes and watched one so far. I had forgotten all the twists and turns, I really do enjoy this series! People are very scathing about Steven Moffat over the way he's handled being head writer on Doctor Who but I do think he writes well for Sherlock.
I've heard people say the episode "A Scandal in Belgravia" is sexist in the way it portrays Irene Adler... I don't really know what to think about that, does anyone here have any thoughts?

Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice and everyone dies.
I thought it was a fantastic episode and the editing was brilliant. Her naked introduction was another great idea as Sherlock could learn nothing about her. As we'd seen him do earlier. The idea of Sherlock dressing as a vicar and watson pretending to set a fire is from the story by ACD.

I think this is the best episode so far...really clever and engaging...
Yes I've read the short story on which that sequence was based, actually on that subject I've been wanting to start reading some of the Holmes novels for a while but am rendered a little ?:) when trying to decide between the many different stories Mr Conan Doyle penned. Would anybody care to make a suggestion of where to start?
I'm glad I'm not alone in thinking it's a brilliant episode

I'd start with A Study In Scarlet and then progress from there...
I was in the same boat a while ago, Napoleon Plural suggest.the short story collection The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. Which I thought was very good.

Announced minutes ago, the prime opponent for Sherlock Holmes and John Watson in Sherlock Series Three has finally been revealed by the production team. Introducing Lars Mikkelsen as Charles Augustus Magnussen!
Lars Mikkelsen is a Danish actor, famous for roles in the hit international exports The Killing, Borgen and Those Who Kill, and is the elder brother of Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale, NBC's Hannibal).

A timely post this-just seen a huge crowd of onlookers in Cardiff city centre watching them filming. If I hadn't seen this post, would not have recognised Lars!
