Well, Bacon did suggest Marty and Benny could go on forever, play H &W without any age fears, sort of as a pension/career hedge, which Freeeman did not dispute, so there is hope
Frankly, as ELEMENTARY has been renewed for a third series and Jonny Lee Miller keeps hitting it out of the park (and I have Sky) I am sort of compensated. -{
Freeman: Long wait for new Sherlock
Martin Freeman has teased Sherlock fans that the show's creators have come up with a "mouth-watering idea" for a one-off special.
But The Hobbit star told Alan Carr on Channel 4's Chatty Man that fans will have to wait some time before he and Benedict Cumberbatch return as Dr Watson and Sherlock in the hit BBC show, as they and writers Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss are all to busy to start work on the next instalment.
Martin revealed: "Steven and Mark have a great idea for something we could do next which they told Ben and I. It's a fantastic, really mouth-watering idea.
"I don't know what it's going to involve apart from this one central idea... now Mark Gatiss may beat me up now... there is an idea for this one-off special that's such a good idea, and as I was listening to it I thought we've just got to do this."
But the Fargo actor admitted: "I really don't know when we are going to get to do it. I'm up for it - I'm ready - but it's getting planes to land in order, we just all need to be ready at the same time.
"We are all very busy. So in all honesty, and I'm not being cute here, I don't know. I really really don't know... I'm not even being coy. I just don't know when it's going to happen."
"I've been informed that there ARE a couple of QAnon supporters who are fairly regular posters in AJB."
Totally agree that Holmes & Watson are ageproof characters and B & M could play them till they drop. Plenty examples of elderly actors doing those parts.
Re the mouth-watering one-off idea: do it in period...?
Re the mouth-watering one-off idea: do it in period...?
That was my initial thought.
But I reason that a period piece would change the dynamic, the modernity of the relationship and the nature of the characters, to make H & W unrecognisable to the characters played by Benny and Marty. Unless it was done as a spoof of Conan Doyle; two guys with 2014s sensibilities in Victorian England.
Can't, therefore, see such a concept being pitched to the Beeb?
Got round to watching some of the special features from series three, and
am amazed at the inganuity of the crew. One shot ( of Sherlock, getting shot ) )
Could have been done the Hollywood way ( with hundreds of DSLR,s ) but these
Plucky Brits got the same effect with a camera strapped to a bicycle wheel. )

A bit off topic, but I couldn't think anywhere else to put it...
Here is a link to an article I read in the British airways magazine from Benedict... not so much Sherlock as Ice Driving and has anyone seen the movie he refers too, The Fifth Estate?

I haven't, But my oldest Daughter is a " Cumberbitch " ) , says it's Brilliant, Although
I'd take that with a pinch of salt. It didn't get great reviews as I remember.

Really? Oh dear...
Well if it's on Sky movies... or on the TV... I might take a peek, just to see...
I think I might be steering towards a Cumberbitch myself.... it's taken a while, but I'm beginning to see his appeal :v

I think he's perfect casting for Sherlock and his star does seem to be in the ascendance.
Several have mentioned him as a possible Bond, in the future. )

Wait or it's the slow end of the show.
