Before Bond and Blofeld have there fight to the Death before the end of YOLT, Blofeld tells Bond that he good Intentions during the two previous (failed Schemes) he had devised up. The theft of two Nuclear Weapons in the hope that there would be Global Nuclear Disarmament. The creation of the disease that would wipe out Britains Cereal and Livestock Sources so there would be a return to the helping Hand Mentality of Wartime Britain . Then his Garden of Death, so he could help clear up Japans Suicide Problem. Compared to his Film Incarnations, Blofeld in the Books appears to have a good Soul.

No, he wanted a large ransom in TB, a title and indemnity in OHMSS and he was quite insane by the time it came to YOLT with his sucide garden. Don't read too much into his mitigating circumstances-cum-deminished responsibility speeches.

No, that's in the film; in the book his demands are left more nebulous.

Yes, he never really received a proper on-screen interpretation, though Telly Savalas came closer than most in his portrayal. It's a real shame we got gimmicks like a cat and blad cracked head instead of the complexity of the Blofeld of the original novekls who was a much better and more interesting and complex character, of course.
