I know its not a view many look upon KK but i do think unlike Casino Royale/Skyfall which are straight off are great films from the first viewing imo. QOS needs rewatching to admire it.

Thunderball doesn't get a lot of hate a few naysayers maybe

AVTAK is a enjoyable romp but Moore was really past it by then. My first Bond so it holds a special place in my heart.

DAD is just bad though deserves the hate.

Thunder all is often called to long and boring and just criticised when compared to Connery's first 3 bonds....imo it's better than all 3. And come on you could at least pretend to respect DAD :p

QoS has so many people that hate the film, but I have learned to love it. DC is for me at his best in QoS.

Despite it's critical and box office success, the way Skyfall gets beat up around here I'm starting to consider putting it in this category!

The way sections of the media were falling over themselves to heap praise on it makes me wonder if there was some kind of co-operation/agenda going on? The mixed reaction to Skyfall here at AJB I'd say is more realistic.

I don't think so. From working in the film industry for 10 years, I can say that it's impossible to generate that sort of hype from a film artificially.

The best way to figure out the popularity of a film is, of course, box office. Take a look at how much it earned and how it earned it and you will get a picture of not only how many people went to see it but also how much people enjoyed it. Skyfall's box office didn't drop off after the first weekend nearly as much as would be expected. That demonstrates strong word-of-mouth and repeat viewings (compare to QoS which started incredibly strongly and dropped off by about 80%.)

The reason why there is a more negative reaction on here is because this is a fan forum. And every fan forum in the world - Star Wars, Star Trek, Batman, Spiderman, X-Men, Lost... etc. - demonstrates the same phenomenon. Conversely, the entries in the series which were far less popular with the public, like OHMSS, FYEO, TLD and LTK, have far better reputations here. The majority of criticisms of Skyfall from Bond fans will be stuff that the general public just don't care about... maybe haven't even noticed. The passionately held opinions of the 0.1% of hardcore fans are irrelevant compared to the 99.9% of people who will actually pay to watch the films.

I also think that in the UK at least Bond has become part of
the national way of life. As many have been brought up watching
the Big Bond film at Christmas etc. Hence there is a lot of
affection for the series in the press and Media. So given it's
a 50th celebration, I think many of the reviews would of been kind
to it even if it hadn't been that good.
Luckily ( just my opinion ) they produced a great Bond film. up
there with OHMSS, a flawed, human Bond. with ( At Last ) a villain
matching up to some of the great old villains from the past. I'm
hoping this might be the start of a new begining "A renaissance if you will "
for a new golden age for Bond. -{ He's cool again :))

Complete Rubbish, Skyfall is a masterpiece. AJB is only a few Bond fans not a whole nation of filmgoers.

I always felt on this forum that its a very Craig is Not Bond vibe to it that other Bond Forum's hasn't got. I agree the knocking of Skyfall was always going to happen from some of these Bond fans just cause they can't get their head around a Blonde Bond.
  • ThunderpussyThunderpussy Behind you !Posts: 63,792MI6 Agent
I think AJB is very well balanced. When I first joined I thought it was a
VERY pro Craig forum, But the longer I stayed them the more different
opinions appeared. After all they are some here who Hate Roger Moore
or Pierce Brosnan. Which is natural There'll always be actors that people
don't like, Doesn't mean they can't have a view on the films. Just think
how luck you are At the Moment and for a long time to come You have
your Favourite actor playing your favourite action character. :) So I
wouldn't get too worried what others think ( except Me ,of course :)) ) and
just keep enjoying Craig's stint as Bond. After all you might hate the Next
    "Fella" :007)

I think its a little too dark and bleak for some Bond fans, i think its the most downbeat of Bond's films. Seen Bond not the cool and suave superhero but a man on the edge is what i love and why so many hate on it. Maybe its a little too action packed and fast but once again thats why i love it. Craig is brillant in it.

I wasn't very keen on DAD for a long time but I gave it another whirl a while back and I quite enjoyed it. If you can suspend your disbelief for a couple of hours it's very entertaining.

Others I quite like which are widely panned or overlooked are DAF, MR, AVTAK, LTK and QOS. :)
