Must've been a very successful limo driver. $600 shoes, $230 jumper, $280 trousers, $180 gloves, $800 coat, $250 sunglasses. Maybe I should look into it!

    1. I'd like the know the reason behind her choosing a tab collar for Bond and, like you said, the single vents.

    2. How much input did Tom Ford have in the wardrobe? What choices in particular were his?

    3. Are the too-small suits chosen only to follow current fashions, or is there a reason in the story for that choice? I know she has said before it's to show off Craig's muscles, but there's no way to tell the difference between muscle tone and fat under a tailored garment.

    4. What was the process for sourcing the casual (non-Tom Ford) items?

    5. Was the Shanghai outfit supposed to be a limo driver's uniform?

    6. What type of image were you going for with Ralph Fiennes' clothing?

+1 on these. I'd like to know the answers to all of these.

With respect, jon courage, Hart008 and othertravel did.

I noticed, though I just meant overall. But I understand that the sources are very important for collectors, which seems to be what most people here are.
    Shanghai

The Shanghai outfit was a limo driver's outfit; just saw it mentioned in a GQ interview.

Good to know. I must have missed that.

You are right Matt, though Bond's exact clothing never interested me, I'm more interested in the look, inspiration and the spirit of the clothing and how it all goes together.

I'd be espescially interested in her take on Mallory's clothing, I was half expecting a bow tie and lounge suit at the end of the film there! I was happy she put him in a DB though.

I hope to see Mallory appear more as Bond's CO, Sir and M being the only titles accepted by him and of course for him to be dressed appropriately for such a role.

The inspiration for Mallory's look wouldn't have taken any thought at all!
Stand outside the Ministry of Defence at 0855 any morning and watch the Army Officers on their way to work....

    They ALL dress like that!!!!

I'm interested to know if she wanted him to look old and stodgy or look like a modern English gentleman. His tailoring is from a modern Savile Row house, and his clothes are not so old-fashioned to a traditionalist like me. For Savile Row he looks rather current and makes Sean Connery's Bond suits look old-fashioned. I'm talking about a cleaner cut and flat front trousers.

I'd like to know if the Lodge "hero" boots are actually the Islay's in Scotch Grain. Watching the blu-ray, and seeing some pics of DC wearing boots that look identical to the Skyfall boots (except no grain) I'm thinking he wore his own personal boots as the "hero" boots in most shots, and then the grained boots were brought it for more stunt work (running and jumping around a lot etc.).

I would love to know more about the breakdown of Moneypenny's clothing (especially Moneypenny's Istanbul outfit and the blue dress at the very end) and how much input the ladies had with their costume selection.
  • CRBCRB Posts: 483MI6 Agent
Moneypenny wears a Belstaff Selsey jacket in Istanbul (the male version is called Seven jacket). And good luck finding one!

I'm sorry, but I'm going to ask where something came from too, unless she has already confirmed it. The chinos were supposedly Topman, but the chinos everybody said were the 'ones' lacked some things like a double belt loop, etc. Though I suppose the chinos could have been from the film, and they added the double belt loop in. Just bugged me because the chinos everybody said were the ones, well, weren't...or at least it appeared like it to me...
mine have the double loop on back as well, the only thing that perplexes me is that buttons on his are a tan color opposed to the black ones on ours.

The clothes were likely bought in 2011, we got the info mid 2012.

Topman has a lot of chinos which diff each year let alone diff year.

Also the actual model number that was being touted as "the one" is only forum members personal opinions - this is crucial to remember, that model is the closest available to buy at the time but not guaranteed to be the 2011 version which does not exist anymore.

I have quite a few pairs of 7 Mankind Mercer Jeans from QoS - they are all slightly diff with MINOR and sadly I never got a pair of the ones used on set (blue studs and incidentally also had a double beltloop if I remember correctly)

I've found one place that carries the Belstaff Selsey but its in Panama color... :# I'm still keeping my eyes peeled.

And.... that's all I know (as well as her watch). It'd be nice to know what her pants & shoes are as well as the necklace that she's wearing and if it's the same necklace she's wearing for most of the movie.

I would be interested to know, if she can be this forthright if TF is a good fit fir JB. I still feel his taored clothing should be English. I understand the supply sample side but, still. See him Saville Row. Maybe Norton an Sons. It can be "international" but English based.

Apologies for dragging this thread I will bugger off now :D

    Cheers

P.S There is nothing wrong with officer dress all the boys in the City like to copy it! (Only they go Armani and Officers do it with style and stick with Saville Row (I know who's will last longer!)

Thanks for all the suggestions everybody. I completed the interview but they cut it down to 5 minutes, so I couldn't ask all the questions I wanted.

Once it's transcribed, I 'll post it up.

Because some of us also go after the specific fit as well. Most clothing sites that showcase garments post the specific dimensions of the model wearing it (height/weight) as well as what size they are wearing. Craig is the model. Besides as long as we have an actual fan and member of the board asking specific questions why not try to paint as complete a picture as possible? The people at BR told us he wore a med peacoat for hero shots and a large for action. Through measurements and analysis the only logical Levis LVC size craig wore would be a medium. Its not like we are asking for his underwear size. Asking what size Lodge jacket he wore and what modifications (the ones we can and cannot see) is a logical question to ask.

Not sure how knowing Craig's size will help YOU (or anyone else) with "specific fit"? You are you... and Craig isn't. :s

Still with Vinnie Mac at # 33 on the theory for this requirment, myself.

go spend some time on the COW forum and trust me, when you can get issues like this cleared up now it saves you headaches later. As for the tagged size, Some people may not care, I think its interesting. Nothing crazy about that.

    But ret'son

David has a point - I'm with him on this.

Better not to waste important contacts asking pointless info

Reminds me of the "I met DC thread"

But your entitled to be curious and now blue ray and a tape measure and graph paper might be the better answer :)

I'm going to try and get to it this week.

Frankly, it's not as comprehensive as I would have liked; it was cut to 5 minutes so I only got to ask 3-4 questions.

That being said, got some clues on Mallory's wardrobe.

TF only did DC's wardrobe. Javier was a custom job.

Ralph Fiennes' was done by an English tailor. I think this is key, because Ralph Fiennes is loyal to one particular Savile Row house, isn't he?

I believe Timothy Everest created Fiennes' costumes for Skyfall, as well as his tuxedo for the premiere in London: http://www.timothyeverest.co.uk/blog/?p=1240

    That's right; it was Everest.

If anybody happens to be in the area, see if the swatch is available :007)

Greetings, I apologize if someone has already asked this but I'd be curious to know about tailoring with regard to off the rack clothing. How much tailoring goes into the clothes DC wears in the movie (i.e. stuff that isn't bespoke), and if so does she tend to go with larger sizes (i.e. a large Lodge Jacket) and tailor them down to fit?

    Thanks
