Best/Worst James Bond Parodies.

I recently wrote a novel that lovingly parodies James Bond told from the point of view of the villain's henchmen. It also satirizes corporate culture. Sure, these people may be evil minions but they're really only in it because the megalomaniac bent on world domination has really good health benefits. (Links for both US and UK amazon are below).

But it's got me wondering, what are some of your favorite James Bond parodies/spoofs? What is the best send up of our favorite spy? Or, what are some of the worst?

    My favorites, by a huge margin, are the two French films OSS 117: Cairo, Nest of Spies and OSS 117: Lost in Rio.

    The TV show Archer also does a good job of parodying Bond and spy films in general.

    And then there's Steve Martin as 007 matching withs with Sting (playing Goldsting) on SNL:

    Archer is brilliant. It's not only a spy parody but also a workplace comedy. And barnone some of the best dialogue I've heard in ages.

    Best - Austin Powers 2 (I'm a fan of all 3 though)
    Worst - That pile of dung starring David Niven in 1967

    Johnny English Reborn has got to be right up there with the best - the title sequence alone is absolutely priceless -{ , though there is the added bonus of none other than Rosamund Pike in the cast. :D

    Rowan Atkinson's Johnny English movies are really good and have a bit more class then Austin Powers 'shag' theme (though there is one instant where Rowan drags a rock with his genitals).

    The Flint movies with James Coburn are fun too. Our Man Flint and In Like Flint. It's the 60's camp that Austin Powers emulates. Only actually from the 60's.

    The wonderful The Man From U.N.C.L.E. series also strays into parody in some episodes, especially during season 3.

    Re Archer - absolutely brilliant. I'm not sure if it's been on tv here in the UK but it's on DVD.

    Casino Royale is a top-notch Bond film. Certainly the best since the Dalton era.

    No that would be QOS, with SF being a great parody of Home Alone. 'My name is Bond, James Bond. (Applies after shave) AAAAAHHHHH!'

    My favorite actual intentional parody, not me making humor at the expense of films I didn't personally enjoy, is: The Matt Helm series starring Dean Martin. I laugh every time I see them.

    That's not the film I saw. I saw an excellent depiction of Bond at the beginning, played with admirable skill by Daniel Craig. Not trying to change your mind (which I believe would be futile), just stating my opinion.

    If Richard--W wishes to continue his editorial there are plenty of other threads more suited to that subject and where he should be able to find plenty of people who agree with him (although few have expressed their distaste for all things DC and CR quite so emphatically) and who disagree with him, but getting this particular thread back on course...

    My personal favourite has to be Austin Powers. The Powers character itself might not be the strongest Bond parody, but the villains, the premise and overall theme certainly are !

    My personal favourite is Johnny English, but I like Austin Powers too.

    My least favourite is the 1967 Casino Royale. An unfunny, OTT mess of a film.

    Well, Austin Powers is probably the most successful, but I've not seen any of them all the way through having said that.

    I would agree with the poster above that Casino Royale is probably the worst of all the spoofs - as someone said "You can't spoof a spoof" plus it actually has very little to do with James Bond when you come to think of it!

    Mission Impossible. Good films but I think they try a bit too much to be like Bond. Even though MI is based on a (Much Better) Tv Series of the same Name.
