Michael Fassbender

Would be my choice as the new villain. In another world he even has the right looks to be Bond. He has a very cold look about him.

Yeah, but his physical resemblance of sorts to Craig doesn't help.

Be nice to have an older villain, a sort of father figure/frosty asexual schoolteacher type. We haven't had that in ages. Not sure Pryce really measured up to that, and he was too panto anyway.

Fassbender vs. Craig would be a great fight.
Kind of like Brosnan vs. Sean Bean.

Would be cool to see 007 work with another 00 on a mission (not Goldeneye baddies style)

Even if it was just for the PTS

They are of a similar type I think rather than looking alike

They've both done full-frontal nude scenes. . .I'd say Fassbender is hugely different from Craig. . .

I like actors who aren't afraid of they're own shortcomings. :D

I've long thought Fassbender should be the next Bond. I'd love to see Matthew Vaughn direct one with him.

But with 10 times better acting and fighting.

Fassbender as a Villian. I think that be a great idea but it happning I doubt it as he's in two massive franchises already so be up to his eyes balls in filming those.

Admittedly He's Not as Good as I would of been, :))

    But He'd be a Good Bond. Only I don't think he's much
younger than DC, so probably will not get a sniff at
    the role.

I think his age is the only thing working against Fassbender. Other than that he is the best candidate. When CR was made he was 29, a perfect age for an agent starting out in the 00-section. Craig was great in CR, but you have to wonder what would have happened if they had cast Fassbender instead.

There are other Bond candidates I can see today. Some are interesting, but are at best aquired tastes. I'm thinking of Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hardy and Tom Hiddlestone here. Or they are attached to other huge franchises, like Henry Cavill and Sam Worthington.

I wouldn't change Craig for any of them as much as I admire the guys you named. He simply made Bond cool and made us care for him and without a shadow of a doubt the best actor to have played Bond . There's a great interview with Paul Greengrass (Bourne films) and Sam Mendes on youtube, in which Mendes goes into detail on what Craig had doe to change the Bond character.

I agree Craig is wonderful in the role, and I'm a fan. We don't know what Fassbender would have done if he got the part in 2006, but it's fun to speculate. What we do know is that Bond was 28 in the book Casino Royale, so at 29 Fassbender would have been far more age-apropriate than Craig at 37.
  • Napoleon PluralNapoleon Plural LondonPosts: 10,467MI6 Agent
Was he really 28 though? Not really, unless Fleming later backdated it. I think he was mid 30s in the book at the time. But the film did seem to be written for a 28 year old.

I seemed to remember from the great Daniel Craig War of 2006 that members of this board wrote Bond was 28 at the time of CR. But when I search it today it seems you are right.

I think Michael Fassbender would be a good choice for the next Bond, though he may be too old by the time Daniel Craig finishes his run.
