1. Less action and more plot. Recent films seem to bounce from action sequence to action sequence. The films offer nothing but. It is tiresome to the point that I wonder if 24 is really viable or desirable.
2. An absence of sentimentality. QoS had way too much sentimentality it was stomach churning. Skyfall (which I couldn't watch in its entirety - sorry got bored half way through - seemed to also have some types of sentimentality with the M relationship.
3. Fit bond girl - we haven't seen a nice blond for a while (perhaps since Rosamund Pike as Miranda Frost in DAD and she was on the wrong side). I have the impression that it has mostly been brunettes lately. A change is as good as a rest.
4. Get rid of Judi Dench as M. Frankly, I find her embarrassing. Too emotional, too attached. It's not good.
5. My favourite film is FRWL - the film has such grace and style. To this day I get fashion ideas from the way people are dressed in that film. Nowadays they are trying a bit too hard to be stylish. But it seems shallow - checking cuff links in the midst of a chase etc. One thing that I find unforgivable is that sometimes Bond's sleeves sometimes seem a bit long with an absence of cuff. Whatever film they develop in the future there should at least be a hint of cuff.
I think Judi Dench may be out of the running for Bond 24. Just a hunch...

Smoking may not be politically correct these days but people who live with the fear of death, or a dramatically uncertain life expectancy, tend to smoke like chimneys. The Bond in the novels falls into both of these categories and lives every day like it may be his last... because it might be. Politically correct or not. It's more true to life to have him smoke and live to excess.
Keep the fight scenes real, the opening bathroom fight in CR was quite good.
I agree with the earlier posts about a smart, and educated, Bond. If he doesn't have knowledge related to his current mission, he should be educated as part of the story.
I also like the idea of a female nemesis and a female who participates in the mission in some more meaningful way.
"No man is any good who has no enemies..." Major-General Percy Hobart.

You get fashion ideas from a film that's 50 years old?
Jeez...someone should take you shopping!
Everything old is new again, my friend. Fashion is recycled all the time, they just rename it. Like when they redid bell bottom jeans as ' flared' jeans. Or now with store carrying leg warmers again.
I think that's one of the best parts of Bond is his clothing, and if jermyn wants to dress to the 9's everyday I'm all for it!
1. I’d like to see Bond and Leiter develop their friendship more. There are some great scenes from the novels that could be used. I’d like to see Jeffrey Wright return in the role of Felix.
2. A good score by a composer that understands the different between scoring a ‘normal’ film and a Bond film. I’m not the biggest fan of David Arnold but he did understand that he was working on something special.
3. A good plot and a three dimensional female lead that takes the story along.
4. A villain that gets killed in an extraordinary way. So no knife to the back or getting shot, I’m talking about a GoldenEye/Goldfinger death scene.
5. Not too much chases unless it is done in an original manner.

"Felix Leiter, a brother from Langley."
PPK 7.65mmSaratoga Springs NY USAPosts: 1,253MI6 Agent
Things that I would like to see:
1. Gunbarrel back at the begining
2. Felix Leiter returns and his friendship with Bond devlops more.
3. Breifing with M scene at the begining at MI6
4. Fliting with Miss Moneypenny
5. Q scene and some practical gadgets issued to Bond
6. Bond girl lives at the end and Bond beds her
What I do not want:
1. Shaky cam work in the action scenes
2. Quick editing during the action scenes like QOS had
- The gunbarrel at the begining
- A Bond girl who isn't a brunette
- A big raid
- A megalomaniac villan who wants something BIG
- Skiing and snowmobile scenes
- Bond's morning training regime
- Bond enjoying luxury, fine food and fine wine
- A briefing scene in M's mission and Bond being on a mission ("This time it isn't
personal" :007) )
- A female villan (Anne Hathaway?)
- and a lot more ....
I don't want:
-Bond movies becoming a self-referancing, comedic semi- Sci-Fi again
-Shaky-cam
-A new Bond girl where the actress says she's "Bond's equal"
-
Things I want:
1. Return of Felix Leiter and, as others have mentioned, let his friendship with Bond develop more on screen. Jeffery Wright would be a huge bonus!
2. A ski scene with Craig would be great. I think he could pull this off really well.
3. Bond entering an enemy lair or stronghold using stealth. Bonus points if he can pull this off in a suit in true Connery style.
4. A classic femme fatale in the Fiona Volpe mould. Not necassiarily the main villain though.
5. A larger than life villain and an evil, diabolical plot.
6. Craig to grow his fair longer for the role. Some of his early publicity shots with longer hair actually looked very Bondonian!
7. Classic office scene with M/Q/Moneypenny and the tossing of the hat onto the stand.
Maybe so, but I think in a few scenes in QOS it went too far. That's particularly true of the opening car chase. Maybe I'm a little slow, but I had a difficult time following what was going on.

It 'fooled' an awful lot then...it made a fortune at the box office
Epic movie and Date movie were also very successful.
If you only count $ as a sign of success.
I prefer good Camera work as in CR, Skyfall
with good editing, as in CR , Skyfall
a competent director, as in CR, Skyfall
These too, I think made plenty of Money.
But each to their own, some of us like Caviar while
others are happy with,............., a Happy Meal.
QOS really IS the Marmite Bond film, Some of us Love it for its faults.
while Some of us Hate it for its Faults. :007)
Still Back to what we want/dont want in Bond 24.
And stop making Blackleiter Doubt his eyesight and cognitive ability )

We've been down this road before. The problem with QOS is not that the story is hard to follow, it's that we, by which I mean the bulk of movie goers, didn't care enough about anyone in the movie to follow it. I followed the plot just fine, but the limp characters(villains, henchman, Bond, and Bond Girls all very one dimensional), and lack of anything remotely interesting (Haiti, Bolivia, REALLY?!)about the film made me lose interest very quickly. I stopped caring. That was the first time that had ever happened to me in a Bond Film. After having watched all Craig's films again, I can honestly say that this movie has poisoned my view of DC's Bond and bled over to affect my opinion of Skyfall. It was that bad, IMHO.
As to the quick cut editing, I think what we are referring to is in the action scenes. When each punch is shown from a different angle, and the camera slews around during a chase scene showing the car/boat/whatever spinning from multiple angles. For some it works and heightens their suspense. For me, and I know I'm not alone here, it makes the fights hard to follow, so that you can't tell who is getting punched and who is winning. So instead of, "Wow, Look at Bond kick the crap outta another baddie" it's more of a "Ummm... who's winning?". For me the suspense is lost because the action is hard to follow. Kinda like the end of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. In the final battle, noone could tell who was an Autobot and who was a Decepticon, so you had to wait til the fight was over and then you could say "oh, I guess the good guys won. How'd that happen again?" In QoS, it wasn't til I saw DC walking away from a fight/chase/whatever that I could tell who won.
Sir Miles I respect your opinion and your right to dissent, but I think the overwhelming majority say 'Nay'. To many, this movie sucks. If I remember right, most of it's box office receipts came in the first few weeks. I don't know many who saw it twice. That means you had a great many people excited or at least intrigued after CR(like me), and disappointed by QOS(like me), so that they needed SF to be a huge hit to turn it back around(for me, I'm still waiting). In that way, QOS is like the Moonraker of the DC era. Hopefully Bond 24 is the FYEO.
Box Office receipts really only prove one thing about a movie, anyway: A fool and his money are soon parted.
Back on topic, that's why I think you see so many fans begging for the Hyper-quick cuts of the fights to not be included in Bond 24. This type of editing is confusing, and for some, literally nauseating.
As to the quick cut editing, I think what we are referring to is in the action scenes
Yes, that's exactly what I was referring to, and to me the car chase was a prime example. I didn't have any problem following the story of QOS (I'm not that feeble-minded - yet!) I liked QOS more than RogueAgent007 and several others, but I did have a problem with some of the editing and I don't want to see that repeated in Bond 24.

And I liked QOS as much as Sir Miles, but that frantic look is (or should be) a one-off IMO.
I just want some crazy stuff in the next one. The Komoto lizard thing was a good touch in SF, but can we get a proper hidden billion-pound underground lair to annihilate next time? Or a henchman with a bionic arm? Or even a flippin' jet pack?
Making the seemingly impossible seem REAL is a cinematic Bond staple... can we throw away the staple-remover mentality now?
