Craig seems pretty confident through the entire torture.

I'd say it was more bravado or showing the British stiff-upper lip....he has a resigned air about him, he knows what's coming - but won't 'show fear'...I think it's a great scene that's well acted... -{

Craig is pitch perfect in that scene. He definitely shows fear in his eyes at various points -- mostly when he hears Vesper's cries -- but steels himself for what is to follow. Then there's that great moment where he resigns himself to not giving in no matter what. If nowhere else, this is the scene where he is most like the Bond in the books to me. It shows why Craig is a bona fide actor, as he excellently demonstrates Bond's inner resolve.
I would say Dalton is the closest, it would have been great for him to have a few more films under his belt.
On the subject of Bond being scared, I like the bit in the Goldfinger PTS where he has just thrown the guy in the bath, and the guy sees Bond's gun in the holster and goes for it.
Connery's reaction to this is great, in a split second he is like "s*it, what do I do now?", then the electric fire goes in. He was saved by a combo of quick thinking and blind luck, and very nearly got caught out.
Connery showed genuine fear when filming with the Sharks in TB.
Yes, but that wasn't acting. I don't remember the details, but I think the shark got outside the glass partition. That's real fear and alarm on C onnery's face.
