Would Decaprio make a good Villain?

When I saw him in Django Unchained a couple of Months ago, I thought that he has the right Elements to be a Villain. He is around Bonds Age and could even be his Equal.

Mr DiCaprio is very good at playing gray characters, where you have no idea who's side they are on. He could be an excellent Bond baddie. Only problem is, he is extremely well known. On top of Mr Craig, and now..... SPOILER ALERT!! Skyfall

... another extremely well known face could break the bank on billing! Plus a lot of the successful baddies have seemed to have European actors, adding to the spectrum of Bond's work. The Netherlands, France, Denmark, Spain all spring to mind.

Although Mr. DiCaprio is about the same age as Mr. Craig, I can't help but think he looks like a teenager. And, like all teenagers, it's hard to take them seriously.

Sorry, I'm not a fan of this suggestion.

I would love it but agree with the fact that he is a bigger name then Craig and that could be quite Hurtful to the film love the idea though

Leanardo Dicaprio could play anybody he wants to. He's such a good actor.

Craig is 45 and DiCaprio is 38. Not a huge difference although I suppose DiCaprio does still have quite boyish looks.

I think he'd make a great villain although I imagine it would take a director of the calibre of Mendes or Christopher Nolan (both of whom he's worked with) to get on board as he just seems to work with the A-Listers these days.

Not sure what type of villian LDC could play ,admitedley a very talented
performer,but cant see him in a punch up with DC , can only see LDC in a
role of some interlectual computer whizz kid trying to control the world
from his bedroom in his mums house i think he would be more suited
as a batman villian

I like him in Django, and he has improved as an actor, but not sure he has much presence for all that. Orson Welles back in the day would have been better in the role, because he just seems more threatening.

Of course, it would unbalance the film most probably. And he wouldn't want to just duplicate his Django turn anyway.

It's such a shame that Welles only appearance in Bond was in CR67. He would have made a great Blofeld.

I rate DiCaprio more highly than you do (I think he's always been a really good actor) but good point about him unbalancing the film. It might be a bit like Jack Nicholson in Batman. On reflection, I can't see Eon going for him for that reason.

Omg. Never seen that before. Not a huge fan of the fan made trailer, the continuity is all off but I did love Michael Fassbender. Never thought of him as a contender for Bond, but after that he'd do just great. Loved the inclusion of Ralph Feinnes too.

Speaking of Django Unchained: Don Johnson was awesome, a very underrated actor. he was also great in Machete. He has the suave to play a baddie also: great looking, charisma but can pull an evil baddie easily.

My quick awnser: Yes he would make an extremely good villian. Every great well known actor would probably make a sick Bond villian: Robert DiNiro, Al Pacino, Johnny Depp, Samuel Jackson....

But like mentioned by others above, the problem is their to well known...

Much as I love 'Django Unchained' and Tarantino's casting coups, I think DiCaprio still looks too much like a 'pretty boy' Romeo type to carry the kind of weight a Bond villain ought to have.

Christopher Walken's performance in AVTAK is highly watchable, not least because he's an accomplished actor from the 'method' school, amusingly billed alongside two leads, Roger Moore and Tanya Roberts, who, whatever their talents and appeal, aren't themselves renowned as outstanding thespians!

Today, before they get too old to do it, it would be interesting to see one of Walken's great contemporaries, DeNiro or Pacino, play a Bond villain in the 'method' style - particularly as the current Bond, Daniel Craig, is a good enough actor to be capable of holding his own against either of them. (It's a shame Quantum has been dropped: DeNiro or Pacino would make an ideal Blofeld figure.)

Not the first time that's happened. Remember The Dark Knight? Everyone responded to Heath Ledger getting the role of the Joker with outright fear for the Batman franchise, much like they would have responded to Arnold Schwarzenegger being brought back as Mr. Freeze. Nobody expected him to be anything more than a prettyboy.

I very rarely criticize an actor before I see their work, being an actor myself. Doesn't mean I don't have predetermined notions of how they'll be, but I always give them a shot. That's why I can continue to despise Megan Fox.

If DiCaprio became the villain, I'd give him a chance. We can always be surprised.

I think Decaprio is a very talented and versatile actor, and I believe he would do fine as a Bond villain given the right script.

There's no doubt he can pull it off, but do you think his name is currently bigger than the franchise itself? I think he would overpower the rest of the cast. He's one of the top actors and I would hate to see him outshine our hero, Daniel Craig!

Still thinking Don Johnson could play an evil business man over the top villain. That guy can act, still has great looks and charisma but also has that little bit of camp that the franchise could need, before it gets too serious. Any thoughts? I would like to see a slightly over the top business-like villain now. Someone that can rival James for womanizing and sophistication.

All these comments about DiCaprio's "pretty boy" looks as an impediment to him being a Bond villain makes no sense to me.

Since when do all Bond villains have to be rough looking or ugly? Why would the producers limit themselves to such casting? DiCaprio's looks did not impede him from being an effective and scary villain in both "Django Unchained" and "The Man in the Iron Mask".

Any thoughts? I would like to see a slightly over the top business-like villain now. Someone that can rival James for womanizing and sophistication.

How about . . . Leonardo DiCaprio? He can portray such a role quite easily.

I think DiCaprio is a great actor, who has improved tremendously since working with Scorcese. Loved his role in Django also.

Johnson is of course 25 years older, so he could play more of a Hugo Drax/Stromberg kind of a role. Di Caprio could play more of an Assange role.
