I second that. I'd like to know more about your project too.

It would be great if someone could upload a nice high-res scan. Might go well in the paper props section of the rpf too.

Ah! Excellent. That would be amazing.

Unfortunately, I can't say too much about the project right now, but will definitely fill everyone in when the time is right. (Sorry for being annoyingly vague.) I will say, it has involved special access to the Eon archives and the Beaulieu Motor Museum.

You've whetted my appetite even more, researchcurtis, you big tease you! :p ;%

I'ts not what you wanted, but my copy of the 1971 third edition was printed in Great Britain under the Houghton Mifflin imprint
with a green dust jacket with one of Don Eckleberry's hummingbird plates on the front, atractive but not what Fleming would have had.

No altogether sure. It all seems very hush hush and "need to know".

Bit obvious really, the guy is planning a reproduction of the book.

He's asked for photos of everything but the contents.

Well, as a seasoned collector, you'd have known that. Me? Not a clue. 8-)

Would be nice to think it was something more worthwhile as a copy of that particular first edition would have little or no value at all. - Its not a particularly rare book

In that case no snap shots should be provided.

Oh, haha. It's not for a reproduction.

It is for a publication unrelated to ornithology, and will serve as something akin to a footnote, a nod to the original.

    You'd be surprised. :(

Or perhaps I'm just bad at looking.

Well that's what our resident so-called experts thought above. Who's clueless now then? :v

Could you provide more details on this project at all? :)

In my post I meant to say that a reproduction would have no real value, my use of the word copy did not convey this.

If you google the books title and look at the images there are shots of the dustcover that should suit your purposes.

Rare to me is something you cannot just go out and buy and when I bought mine I was relatively spoilt for choice.

Welcome to the forum BTW, 'tis a suspicious and firesome lot :))

A highly experienced and knowledgeable London rare book dealer recently offered a first edition copy of the 1936 edition for GBP1500 and stated that the first printing is scarce...so this could explain why you are having problems.

Gotta love it when someone makes an "obvious" and negative accusation... and is completely off the mark... 8-)

researchcurtis has asked for his account to be closed and all his posts removed....he has already removed his posts so I will close his account as he asked...I can only assume he was after reproducing the book for nefarious activities...
