Walther P99 MI6 limited Edition. One of one thousand.

I am looking to buy one of these, preferably in deactivated state. I know there are a few for sale in the states as live firearms but I am also aware that several were brought into the UK and deactivated. A couple have been traded on militaria sale sites in recent years. If anyone has one or knows who has them, please let me know. kind regards, Mark Rothwell

Unfortunately seller won't offer international shipping, but it's always worth a try and ask.

There are only five in the UK. I doubt the owners will sell.

check gunsamerica, gunauction, gunbroker et al. Some do appear rarely but you're looking at the very minimum 2K USD for one

Hey asp / teppo what's the story with these?

And what's the motif on the front of the slide?

Looks like a union jack with "wrap"

    Cheers paul

From what I've heard they were unofficial anniversary editions that walther rather naughtily did without eon's permission. oops.

Hi Minigeff, thats exactly what they were. Walther decided to make a special 007 limited edition and made 1000 of these. Most were issued to walther dealers for resale and when Walther realised that they had not asked EONS permission, they quickly recalled them. The problem was that many had been sold privately and one dealer in particular, Earls Repair Centre in USA would not give them back or claimed they had already sold them all. They are a live firearm with a JB limited number and M16 On Her Majestrts Secret Service on the barrell. They also have 1 of 1 thousand written on the barrel. They come with a nice limited edition case with a few 007 goodies in. There are loads for sale in the usa in both 0.40 and 9 mm calibres and they are cheap at around $1500.00. The problem is exporting that style of live firearm out of the states is impossible. A few came to the UK and are deactivated and have been traded. Just curious to see if anyone fancies selling one. many thanks, Mark Rothwell. ps...I have also spoken to Earls repair centre who are a vacuum sales and repair centre with handguns for sale in the back office, now that was an experience !!

not bad, serial #256. Of course with the shortage of ammo good luck finding 9mm shells for that. A friend owns a class 3 where I live and he was telling me that older gen walthers are notorious for FTFs and they had to be sent to walther for a re-bore and re-rifling.

Very nice and rare collector's item, but I wouldnt spend 2K just to show it off. I have a lot of fun with mine (both P99 and PPK)

The problem is that you cant now export them from America so it would have to be already in the UK and deactivated. I have the cash waiting if anyone knows of one. kind regards, Mark Rothwell

Of course with the shortage of ammo good luck finding 9mm shells for that.

Can someone tell me if I've been under my stone for too long, have I missed something? Is this sarcasm that's missing me completely? Or is there a genuine shortage of what must be the most common cartridge on earth? With the possible exception of the .45 ACP, the 9mm Parabellum or 9 x 19 introduced in 1902 by George Luger and in very common use right up to today. Almost all military semi auto pistols and sub machine guns have been available in this calibre.

It used to be said that a wet greatcoat would stop a 9mmP FMJ at 50 yds, but I never had the guts to prove it, and that throwing a Browning HiPower at the opposition would have more effect than pulling the trigger.

Put me out of my confusion and tell me if there is indeed a shortage as I'm off the the States soon and will have to shoot .45 if the cost of 9 is too much :#

My apologies. But I seem to have misplaced mine somewhere :v

Now on the live firing versions we have two variations original the Series I HMSS (MI6) was never officially announced nor shown on Walther's German website, and it was exclusively imported by Earl's in the US in 1999.

The Series II James Bond edition, as it was originally listed on Walther's site was very quickly withdrawn due to EON finding out and Walther not seeking permission to use the Bond name and number. None of these were ever for sale in the USA, and very few available in Europe. The full THOUSAND run was definitely never reached. Earl did in fact privately import a few of them, and they slowly trickled out onto the market. Like the original Series I, the majority seem to be in .40 S&W with the 9mm versions being much rarer.

    Series I -

I love the ASP, saw one. its weird, but awesome. The series 1 P99 was never imported, I worked a lot with Earls and they never saw the series 1. Maybe I'm misinterpreted?

I sent my series 2 to him to have some updates made most notably the tension spring breaking after just a few hundred rounds.

It really is true, look around on the websites and you wont find any. Short answer is paranoia with all the Senate and White House fighting each other for gun control (read Sandy Hook). It usually happens every 4 years when a new prez is voted in, but with this one its a hell of a lot more controversial. Several states have already banned and made it a federal felony to have semi automatic weapons and mags larger than 10 rounds.

There are few national chains, but they are severely limiting sales and rationing them, to the point where you can only buy 1 single box of a single caliber per day, and thats it. They take your ID down (which is legal, you have to prove you're over 21) and control the sales that way.

And its for all calibers, the sole exceptions are shotgun shells (10-18 ga) and the more expensive rounds like mag 357 and mag 44.

Its all politics, whether internal (again Sandy Hook) or foreign (11 years at war in Arabia and impending war in Korea)

    Thanks 96mn12

Well my flabber is well and truly gasted. Just had a look around the web regarding ammo shortages and could hardly believe what I was reading. Guess I might not be doing much shooting next trip then, although my resident great white hunter does reload almost all of his own, with the exception of .45 ACP, 9mmP and .22 LR which are normally as plentiful as leaves on a tree ....... but now not so, it seems. I'll just have to shoot some of his more exotic offerings instead, he does have a very nice double rifle, although not an Anderson Wheeler it is a 500 Nitro Express and has a delivery like a wrecking ball through a plate glass window. :D

Played with it before and about 10 rounds is my max before I start to bruise badly, to be honest I actually prefer a .22LR plinker and trying to walk the rounds onto a 12 plate at 300m, that's something I can do all day and I get more satisfaction from that than being able to hit it within three rounds of a major calibre.

you have another option, actually your friend here in the colonies. He could register at gunbroker.com and buy it there, its an auction site and they do sell ammo, but its obviously overpriced.
