I think you will see the new Vanquish, it is even produced in Skyfall silver
But mainly as DC has a strong link with Aston (similar to that with Omega). And he does (rightly) seem to have a large influence, hence the Aqua Terra etc
I too agree re the purist, and a Bentley / Rolex combo wouldn't be bad eh ?
But stick with Aston / Omega, when DC sadly hangs up his tux, then make the change for the new rebooted Bond
For Ian Fleming and books the car was Bentley
For producers it was Aston Martin
So I agree that Bentley don't have the "look" or a 007 car.
Let's stay Aston but sure a new one - DB5 is destroyd and coming old in the scene.
So wat ? Why not the new Aston Martin Vantage 12v - This is my choise now and let's see !

Bond drove an Aston Martin in the novel "Goldfinger."
The reboot made quite a mess of Bond's car. He supposedly won the DB5 in the poker game in CR, which would make it his personal car. In the old series it was just another tricked out weapon from Q branch. In SF, we see the DB5 again. Now, we are supposed to assume this was the one he won in CR, yet it's outfitted in the same manner as the original GF model. What?? Since it can't be THAT car, as this is the reboot, and since it would not be the CR model, as it was not accessorized by Q branch, where did this model come from? If it HAD been retrofitted by Q branch, it certainly would have had more updated armourment (not the same turnsignal hidden guns surely). However, if it was supposed to be the model he won in CR, it would have been his personal car and as such would not have been touched by Q. He would still have been issued a modern one to drive when on a mission.
Confusing isn't it?
As to it's SF appearance, they used it in the third act for one reason - as a way of having Craig/Bond's past (and the pre-Craig series) finally put in the ash can along with his childhood (home). It was all about symbolism..not very subtle symbolism, but symbolic nonetheless.
Craig's next film(s)? Well, they can continue to show him in the latest Aston - which I think they will for marketing sake, but I think they should emphasize somewhere in the script - either through dialogue or actually showing it - that Bond end's up acquiring an antique Bentley. Here's why.
It would add another depth to his character and show modern audiences something they are not familiar with - his love of the marque and it's history. The best way to demonstrate this would be to have it come up in the dialogue on how he had just gotten an antique Bentley or show him say, taking his clubs out of it at the golf club parking lot and a passing member commenting on it...or show him bringing into the HQ garage where a security guard comments on it..etc. In the novels, it was Bond's most prized possession. Since these are reboots anyway, I think EON could get away with this. Say what you want about the drooling over the visually sexy/aggressive styling of AM's or any modern street racer - they are seen much more often then they used to be - whereas a vintage Bentley still turns heads anywhere you drive or park it in Britain.
When Flemming first wrote the novels I'm sure the Bentley was the epitome of cool and class. However these days Bentleys are purely footballers cars and I personally think they would look really out of place in the Bond film world.
I do agree it's time to let the DB5 die but I would like to see another Aston in the next film.
Totally agree....as you say, back in Fleming's day, Bentley was a very sophisticated car. Unfortunately through association they are not so for me....plus they are ugly! I too would love to see a new Aston....

Bentley's are purely footballer's cars? Hardly..to me that's just seems overly cynical. I've never thought Cadillacs to be gangster cars only because drug dealers can buy them and tart them up and I never thought Bentleys or Rolls or BMWs were spoiled pop diva rides because pop divas could own them and bling them up. Besides, they only do that with whatever the latest model is ...another reason a classic antique Bentley keeps its charm and heritage. As far as their being ugly...in the eye of the beholder, right? It's one of the things that attracts me to the old blower Bentley's. They look like trucks modified for racing. Sort of like having a locomotive with nuclear engine.

Well Bentley's aren't the only brand to suffer from wrong association...just look at the Burberry tartan
Now you can call me cynical or snobbish but that makes a big difference to me, because I judge a product or brand with that association.
Also they are just too old school for me....(as in what they were) and their current popularity is with a group of people I just don't admire....
And as for the look....well each to their own, but yes, ugly is the right word

At the risk of doing the whole retconning thing that Star Trek fans are noted for, there is always the possibility that the weapons and such were already in the DB5 when Bond won it from Dimitrios -- that we did not see these used doesn't preclude the possibility.
As much as I love the DB5 (those were the days) we will not see it again for some time. While I think differently than some on here, I did not see where it made sense for him to win the DB5 in CR reboot or not (the bloody car wasn't even RHD). Even in Goldfinger, Bond asks where his Bentley is? As some of the old timers will recall, Bond's Bentley was shown in FRWL. Bond only drove the DB5 because it was a company car and it was M's orders. The only reason a DB5 was chosen for the movie was do to the fact it was the latest offering from AM in 1964. In GF (book) Bond drove a DB MkIII (no such car). it would have been a AM DB4 MKIII. I do see where it made sense in Skyfall to tie the old Bond with the new Bond. Notice Bond had the DB5 in a storage garage under covers. Been there for some time (it had nothing to do with the car in CR). For all we know he could have sold that car in between CR and Skyfall. Getting back to the roots so to say. The new M is male, Moneypenny and Q are back. It all makes sense.
No the next Bond will feature another Aston martin DB9 or Vanquish and it will be a company car.

I would agree with most of these comments, however I do think that we have to accept that the peroid of time that the novels and the films are set in are different.
As far as the cars go when I think of each version of Bond I think of a different car with Connery its the DB5, Lazenby the DBS, Moore the Lotus, Dalton the Aston V8, Brosnan the BMW's and I tend to think of Craig in the modern DBS.
However they could have tied the DB5 into the story a little better by, when the dust cover was removed M could have said something like I thought you lost this car chasing Auric, or something along those lines.
I think a better comment when Bond reveals the DB5 would be: "All active service MI6 cars have trackers installed, but I managed to get this decomissioned Aston Martin some years back."
Goldfinger belongs to another timline for Bond, so referencing him wouldn't work.

Agreed, but don't the weapons that are on the DB5 in Skyfall themselves give reference to Goldfinger ???
I still don't think they have to reference Goldfinger at all. There's no in-movie confirmation in the Craig films that this is the same car nor that Detrious didn't have it tricked out on his own (or picked it up surplus or something). Rebooting allows the filmmakers to come up with alternate reasons for what happens than the original films may have suggested. That's why Judi Dench's M has not met Bond before in this movie series.

the db5 shouldn't come back right after skyfall but they should use a newer more slick aston martin but bring back the db5 in a later film
