Watching the scenario unfold on tv was interesting. It sickens me that 3 people lost their lives and many more were injured and possibly permanently disabled. It enrages me more to know a child of 8 years lost his life due to the cowardly act of the person who did this. I can hope the person is brought to justice and the families of the victims can make a full recovery in time.

I've lived in Boston nearly all my life; needless to say I was shocked and appalled at what happened in my back yard as it were. Going to work today was an odd experience, seeing heavily armed swat teams and national guardsmen patrolling the streets with automatic weapons drawn and easily visible. But there were also children running around and playing, going to the Big Apple Circus at Government Center and people walking around, chatting, smiling, going about their business and not being intimidated by the memory of what happened so recently. We were rocked and shaken but we're also a resilient city and we always pull together at times like this.

What a cowardly attack. Our thoughts are with the families and I hope they get whoever is responsible without delay.

I see that President Obama was sent a letter containing anthrax or some such substance - suggesting these bomb attacks (there was also another one at a government building) are very much part of a wider co-ordinated plan.

It's pretty certain that the letters are not part of a wider-coordinated plan, just some kind of copycats like in 2001

Similar to The Living Daylights, where a villain disguised as a balloon salesman, killed someone at the sliding door at the carnival in Vienna, Austria!

Something out of The Living Daylights, The World is Not Enough, and Skyfall!

Or John Gardner's Never Send Flowers where the villainous ex-actor turned serial killer David Dragonpol tries to kill Prinxcess Diana and her sons at Euro Disney in Paris by blowing them up with a keg of super-explosives on one of the theme park rides! Death Among the Magic indeed. If yoyu've not read it - seek it out now on Amazon. I find it a truly fascinating piece of Bondian work. :)

Now the world of terror has got onto US shores, it is terrible that bombs now go off in Boston, rather than just funded there.

Some of us Brits have seen the effects of the bombs financed by NORAID, at the encouragement of those like Edward Kennedy, after the hat has been passed around the bars.

Terrible when terrorists kill kids. Or law enforcement officers. Brit or US.

Shame it'll have taken this type of tragedy for the point to have hit home.

As a poster breaking radio silence from Northern Ireland, I can only agree. A case of the cosmos righting itself perhaps? Oh, the irony. It shall have blood, they say. Blood shall have blood.

Yes, sadly much that those in the US have condoned prior to 2001 has come home to them. Perhaps nothing more so stark as in the deaths of those who died then who might have been ambivalent to such acts "in the name of freedom" elsewhere in the English-speaking world.

    Dreadful now. Disgusting then.

Just Incredible! Monday, April 15, they had no idea at all who planted the Boston Marathon Bombings. But because of everyone turning in their smart phones with pictures and video and security camera and ATM cameras cooperating with the police and F.B.I, the F.B.I meticulously and professionally discovered something us regular Joe's would not have noticed. They found two possible suspects with heavy knapsacs walking together. They had a clip of the knapsack being put down just before the explosion. They showed a man running from a knap sack with his black pants torn. By late Thursday night into Friday morning, they had killed the first suspect because he shot an officer and threw out more explosives and this Friday night, they found and had the second suspect in custody alive. They had followed a trail of blood. A helicopter heat sensor found him in the back of a house that had a boat. He was under the torn boat cover.
Be proud to be an American tonight. This is what it is all about. When you help the authorities with whatever evidence you have no matter how small it is, you can help the police and F.B.I solve the crime.

I'm not blaming the victims. A bomb doesn't discriminate who it kills or maims. Boston was/is a hotbed of Irish Republicanism. They sent money to the IRA here in Northern Ireland for decades, killing and maiming countless thousands with the gun and the bomb. So excuse me if I have little sympathy with bombs going off. What goes around comes around, as they say.

What about the victims of all the bombings in Northern Ireland? The silence is deafening on that in media circles, but then we all know that America is the only country in the world that has ever suffered from terrorism. Forgive me if I don't bow to America and their grief. They've spread plenty of grief here in Northern Ireland, but then we don't exist here on the world stage.

I have sympathy with all victims of terrorism. I'm just pointing the irony of being too self-righteous about bombings in Boston when we've had over 30 years of bombings here in Northern Ireland, many of them funded by extremists overseas. Read the article posted below to broaden your perspectives:

    http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/ira/inside/weapons.html

I will not engage the above poster in any conversation. He does not exist to me.

I'm not making a hierarchy of victims here. Of course the poor people who were blown in bits by that bomb have my most sincere pity and sympathy. That's not my point. What is my point is rather the shameful practice of Irish Americans sending funds to a ruthless and sectarian terrorist faction like the IRA without really understanding Northern Ireland at all. I've had enough of American propaganda. They weren't the first to face terrorism on their own soil and I'm sure that they won't be the last either. By the way, I'm not English. I respect all Americans who lost their lives in the name of freedom for the UK and Europe, though I very much doubt that it was that generation who sent funds to the IRA to help their murderous campaign going from the late 1960s until the late 1990s. For that you need to look elsewhere. Let's not mix up our respective histories with hyperbole here.
