Dr No: Confusing scene

When Bond escapes from his cell through the vent at the climax of the film, a load of water rushes past soaking Bond which leads me to ask some questions;

1.Why the hell is No pumping water in his ventilation system? Given the layout of the ventilation system, wouldn't the water have ended up flooding the decontamination chamber?

2. Dr No was a smart man, but i can't help thinking that when he designed Crab Key, the vents seemed to deliberately invite an escape attempt due to their size.[/*]
An enjoyable film nonetheless.
Have you ever heard of the Emancipation Proclamation?"

yes, a similar scene in Stallones judge Dredd
flames vent to the outside of the city ie from left to right
As Stallone and his mate run into the pipe ie right to left
flames then chase Stallone ie right to left shouldnt they be going out the city wall ?
By the way, did I tell you, I was "Mad"?

I watched Dr. No last night. Definitely one of my favorites.

In the book the "assault course" was explained better and culminated with Bond battling a giant squid.
Although I agree in the movie it doesn't make that much sense, I'm just grateful they omitted the goofy squid fight.

I'm also glad the movie doesn't feature the scene with Bond shooting all the dogs in the river. As a dog lover that would be unbearable to watch.

"Plot holes"? I thought only Skyfall had "plot holes"!

In a similar vein, why on earth does the control wheel for the reactor in Crab Key allow the operator to turn it up to "Danger Level"?

Crank the Danger Level up to 11 ! Bond creates another environmental disaster and future Superfund site for Jamaica to clean up. Kind of like Steven Seagal blowing up the Alaskan oil rig in On Deadly Ground.

I've never quite understood Dr. No's plan involving atomic-powered radio beams. Science has never been my strong suit. (as Scaramanga would say)

Confusing scene: At the end Bond claims they are out of fuel, yet he is clearly checking the oil with a dipstick.

In the novel, Dr. No said Bond on an assault course type thing through the vents, looking to experiment on how much pain he can withstand. The vents are incredibly hot (A fact which isn't portrayed that well in the film) and then when the cold water touches the burns on Bonds body, they are meant to increase the pain even more.

Bond pulled a similar trick in Licence to Kill. Pam replies, "Boy, I haven't heard that one in long time" :))

Aye! That was a good scene :)) I thought that was a good reference to the ending of DN.

    Well,

Haha as it the case with many movies, some parts are not meant to make sense. In that scene, bond drops a considerable height to a lower duct from a higher one (where he came from the cell). The lower duct is where the water flows.

In skyfall - If there's something obscure I'd to know about a scene, in shanghai - his text message is received at 17:55 I believe. Patrice's flight arrives at 9pm. Then he's at the airport wearing the chauffeur hat an hour later!!

How did he acquire the hat lol...I think, knowing bond, he probably subdued a driver in the airport bathroom and took it. It might have been interesting if they had showed this?...

Did anyone else notice that in the movie?

I noticed he looked exactly like Rob Halford circa 1979 B-)

The idea was to fire such an intense radio beam at the missile that the gyroscopic guidance system would be thrown off and the missile would crash. Since displays of missile capability and technology was a large part of the saber-rattling of the early Cold War, the US would have been weakened in the eyes of the USSR. Diplomatic troubles could ensue, possibly even giving Russia the excuse to attack.

I have no idea if it would work tho. :s

Some outboard motors have a dipstick for the fuel in lieu of a gauge.
Beg your pardon, forgot to knock...
