The Craig trilogy - to buy, or not to buy?

Brosnan_fanBrosnan_fan Sydney, AustraliaPosts: 521MI6 Agent
So I've been considering purchasing the Craig Bond film trilogy (on Blu Ray), but ended up leaving it on the store shelf (for the moment).

The main reason for me holding back is I am not particularly a Craig fan :v ; the other being (of course) the huge price. :#

The alternative I am considering is just getting SF by itself.

So perhaps some of you may be able to sway me in my decision; I throw the floor open to both Craig fans and general Bond fans alike. I would particularly be keen to hear from those of you who have done a Craig Bond marathon back-to-back, a what you thought of your experience.

As of this time, my money will be kept strictly in my wallet.

Craigs Bond is the Connery Bond of 21st Century. Both play the Character very similar to each other. I still don't personally see all of this Animosity towards Craig.

I wouldn't be DC's biggest fan But I did buy the complete series in the Boxed
Blu-ray collection which was Great value. Then just added the Skyfall Blu-ray
from the triple "Steel" Box" ( which also left me with the DVD and electronic
    versions ). :D

Wow... huge price? Not sure why that is in Australia... here, Wal Mart has CR and QoS on a Blu Ray 2 pack for US$15.00 and Skyfall separately. If I didn't already have CR and QoS on DVD I would but that 2 pack.

But that's here in the US.

If you're in two minds about it and aren't particularly wild about the films just wait for 6 months or so and you'll be able to pick them up for a song.

They are less than $10 on BluRay at Target in the states. I think I got QOS for $5 and it wasn't even worth that much. :)

Hey. Interesting post. Here's what I dd....

Obviously I already have CR and QoS. When SF was released I bought it as a separate and also downloaded it to my iPad. So I have the discs of all three but not the actual box set. I also have all three on my iPad. However, I'm bot going to buy the boxed set just for the sake of it as I already have them all in two formats, as is with all the Bond movies. I did buy Everything or Nothing on disc too.

Just as an aside, what is the triple Craig disc set retailing at in Syndey? Here in London, Asda and other supermarkets have it for under £20 I think.

I just bought the three films on DVD separately as they were all released. I'm thinking of buying the Craig boxset too, though, but I'm not quite sure why?! :))

I think you should have all three, but if you only go with one or two, Casino Royale must be in the mix.

The first two are definitely worth the price. And despite my feelings on Skyfall's mediocre nature, I've never left a Bond on the shelf so....

I guess it depends on what you like though. If you really like Skyfall, then they might not be as worth it. I find the first two Craig films to be more like each other in feeling and character while Skyfall just seems to be a completely different beast than Bond all together. Though you can see by this forum, there are those that like CR and Skyfall and hate Qox, those that like all three, and those that like the first two but don't hold Skyfall in high regard. So I can't really say if it's worth a 63 price tag for you or not :p

    What he said!

Ages ago I tried to get my favorite Bonds per actor on DVD. (This was before Blueray dropped standard DVD prices.) I got Goldfinger, Moonraker, TLD, TWINE and CR-06. Only OHMSS is missing.
A few Christmases later I was given the complete Ultimate collection, inc QoS. Once the price goes to peanuts, I'll get Skyfall. These specalist sets to me feel like barrel scrapers. I say that as a fan of all the 007 films. Except one.
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?

I'm not a big fan of QOS but I'd still buy it just to
complete the set. Then after watching it you'd always
see how good CR & Skyfall are. :))

QoS is a great Bond movie. Hate how its just dismissed out of hand
The Craig Trilogy is the best thing to happen to the Bond series since Connery's first three
    Essential buy for me.

Not to be argumentative. :)) I can't speak for others But ............

I haven't dismissed it out of hand but Rather,
I've watched QOS several times and yes my views on it have softened over the
years But I do feel it's too much action and not enough Plot or characterisation,
Mixed with some frantic editing. Not to my Taste But I can accept others Love it. :)

    This :))

QoS is what I love about Craig's Bond in that he's a brutal killer but suave cool ladys man too. Only Connery was the other Bond to have that. I just love the nasty side it has, everything Moore's and Brosnan films lacked.

In my first post my advice was to buy it, As much as I've
pointed out its faults Like any Drug addict ( 007 being the drug )
I have it on DVD and Bluray, and I'll obviously get the special edition
with directors commentary etc whenever it's released. :))

What Craig trilogy? The plot for SKYFALL had nothing to do with the plots for CASINO ROYALE and QUANTUM OF SOLACE.
