Let's face it - realistically, as soon as Bond drops out the vent, rather unglamorously, his head ends up in the bare lap of a dead Russian man.

More to the point, how was he even being held up in the vent?

This is probably more than a little niggle, but I just hate how Felix and Blofeld were re cast every time, because it would add more to what is a very thin continuity. Especially with the re cast of Blofeld for DAF. It takes away from the fact Bond is out for revenge, when the guy he's getting revenge on isn't the same actor who killed Tracy. Re casting Felix annoys me as well, because.....why? It's the same as if Bond was re cast with every single film!

Another major thing that annoys me is how actors have played multiple roles in the films, especially when it's major roles, like with Maud Adams, Charles Gray and Joe Don Baker. It's distracting, and just doesn't make sense. It's like if Christian Bale played the next Batman villain, or if Pierce Brosnan played Blofeld next (which, BTW, would be awesome and I really wouldn't mind).

Try watching British television from the 1960s and you'll see the same actors play many roles in the same series. Check out The Saint and you'll see actors like George Pastell and Paul Stassino (who you'll recognise from Bond films) play five different roles throughout the show's six series. Other actors make six or seven appearances in different roles. It seemed like there weren't all that many actors working in the UK at the time, and the casting directors didn't go out of their way to find people. I can understand Charles Gray in two different roles, but Joe Don Baker shouldn't have come back because by the 90s it should have been much easier to find good actors than it was decades earlier.

Ok, so this isn't really a niggle, but I am wondering if this is intentional or just lazy. So at the end of the tanker chase in LTK, Bond says "Don't you want to know why?" And we get a close up of the lighter. However, this is the same shot from the wedding scene; the background is black, and the lighter is between Bond's thumb and finger, wheras in the scene it's in the palm of his hand. So, is this intentional? Is it supposed to be a flashback? Or is it just being lazy by using the same shot rather than making a new one?

In my humble opinion, it's a flashback to the presentation of it at the wedding.

Objectively speaking, Roger Moore would have been a great Q.

Well actually it's from the upper reaches of the Tiparape.

That line bothers me. No reason to make Bond that freakin' smart. Let the experts do the briefing.

I must be in the minority, because I have a strong preference for the Sheryl Crow theme. The word "Surrender" is not even in Bond''s vocabulary and should not be the main theme! However, I am delighted to have it in the credits just because it's way better than that godawful boring song in GE credits.

I'd say this is lazy rather than subtle story-telling. They probably forgot to shoot an insert shot & just took one from earlier, hoping nobody would notice. I know I didn't until it was pointed out to me.

I think you misunderstand the lyrics, because the song isn't about James Bond surrendering. If it were the main title, the song would have been called "Tomorrow Never Dies". It was only called "Surrender" so not to confuse it with Crow's song.

The LTK insert shot could be an Homage to the insert shot in Goldfinger.
When Bond is dying for a slash. ....... at The Mustang's tyres, the shot of him
opening his armrest. Is actually taken from the later night time car chase. ;)

Richard Branson's cameo in the Miami airport scene in Casino Royale. I find that much more annoying than the Omega watch advertising.

Yes. I watch the films often, yet I always seem to post something in this thread when I'm watching it on ITV4. First they throw adverts in, now they're making me see problems in the films.......I don't think I'll be watching a Bond film on ITV4 again for a while!

I also agree. Only Blu-ray for me. I don't think I could go back to the quality of my old DVDs. Blu-ray is still better quality than streaming, and streaming can lag.

You must be a very patient person! I get pissed off when I notice something has been cut. And the end credits are usually sped up with a advertisement shown on top of them. That bothers me so much.

It bothers me also but bond on tv gives me something to settle to bed with, and I'm usually on here during the ad breaks, sometimes I go the whole hog, Bond on itv4, ajb during the ad breaks and reading a bond novel as well (currently re visiting Dr No) the full bond immersion :D

:)) you'd need it for that job! I'm sure wedding photographers pick backdrops on grass just to see the ladies heels sink into the ground.
