One tiny niggle I have with TND:

Bond takes the GPS device from Carver's safe and it's a whacking great big red box. He slips into his inside jacket pocket. He then basically fights a small army, escapes and gets into his car and takes the device out of his pocket - all while looking immaculate.

Now I only have to put a handful of change and a pen in my suit pocket and it looks awful - if only I had Brozz's tailor.... :))

How about even believing he kept a P99 in there? Not in TND, of course, but in the subsequent films. I've noticed a bulge in the occasional shots when the gun is actually in there.
I particularly noticed that in twine in zukovsky's office in the casino when he holsters the p99, Mr brioni must have winced at that.

That one particularly stood out to me. It's rare that you see him standing there with the gun in the suit. Anthony Sinclair was happy to tailor Connery's suits for his PPK, but I wonder what he would have said if Connery had to wear a gun the size of a P99!

Probably " I'm a tailor not David copperfield" I always thought the p99 was a curious choice for a conceal carry, great for the tactical gear, stealth boat sequence, similarly the ppk looks Ill at ease with the similar tactical outfit in the ge pts.
I can't say I noticed the ppk under the Rome funeral suit in sp? But the iwb holster generally seems a better choice with those close fitting tf suits of late.
It was either that.....or the priesthood

Octopussy: During Orlov's first scene, the wallmap of Alaska is very poorly drawn. There appears to be a giant lake in the middle of the state.

NSNA: Opens with overly realistic training mission designed to fool the audience. Kinda like FRWL.

Something in Skyfall that bothers me: Bond learns that Patrice is being hunted by the CIA and their intelligence suggests he is travelling to Shanghai. Bond goes after him. Why are there no Americans there from the CIA if they're after him too and they know he'll be there?

Perhaps the Americans sent a Jason Bourne type over ? Blending in with crowds then
    Disappearing behind a car etc.

Maybe the Americans backed off when they learned that the world's greatest spy/assassin was going to take care of business.

Also, at that point the Brits probably had a greater interest in Patrice than the Yanks.

The way people are shot and die in YOLT is a little odd. Especially Osato, there is no visible impact, no sign of blood (I get they couldn't have been too violent, but still). Everything just seems so tame.

I always laugh when this happens in The Bourne Identity, when he "disappears" behind the little van in the middle of the square but you can see him running along behind it.

Too bad the British didn't realise they have the world's greatest spy/assassin. That would have made for a much different story is M respected Bond.

    Moonraker:

The girl in the PTS is never seen jumping out of the plane, despite having a parachute.

How come the main-titles are letterboxed on my Blu-ray, but not on the Hulu version that I just watched? Is there a new transfer available?

This is ages ago but if you pay close attention to his Seamaster in that scene it takes about half an hour between shots and nobody paid enough attention to fix that.

    Octopussy:

It bugs me how Octopussy suffers a rough patch right as the film begins.

    PTS= Brilliant
    Titles and song= Brilliant

Clown egg chase= Lackluster. Maybe it's the clown costume, but I have never found this sequence very exciting.

Office scene= Below average. I don't blame them for trying to introduce a new Moneypenny, but since it didn't pan out I find the scene disappointing. It could have been way better with just the usual classic Bond and Moneypenny. Also M's office briefing is weak since the "art expert" barely says anything. And does it seem odd that Bond had a non-reaction to 009's death?

    Orlov Briefing= Brilliant

    Sotheby's Auction= Brilliant

In conclusion it niggles me that John Glen had all these super well-done scenes to start the film off, but kinda botched some others.

You know that we share our admiration for the Moore Bonds.

However, I disagree with your sentiments re. the Clown Chase Sequence.
I've had goosebumps when I've seen it first in the cinema and I still regard it as a suspenseful and efficient highlight of the movie.

IMO the movie gets a bit boring as soon as Bond enters the train to Karl Marx Stadt.
President of the 'Misty Eyes Club'.

Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!

Th Clon sequence, considering the fact 009 is in a clown costume, is, IMO, great. The suspense is there, there's a bit of mystery because we as an audience don't know what's going on, and because for a Moore Bind film it's pretty dark - especially the end of the scene, as he stumbles in the room, egg in hand and knife in back.

Goldeneye. I just watched it on Hulu and it looked pretty decent to me. Not cropped like the UE DVD

Bond changed the timers to 3 minutes, but that still should have been enough time for 006 to either disable them or escape. What was Alec doing all that time while Bond was on the runway? Just lying on the floor?

The "Nine Years Later" thing is totally unnecessary.

In trying to be politically correct, the writers totally misjudged Bond and Moneypenny's relationship. There was never even a trace of sexual harassment that I can remember.
(Maybe I'm just a misogynist dinosaur)

Alec claims to have anticipated Bond's every move. What exactly was their plan for Bond at the hotel spa? That didn't seem to go very well.

After all that back story about the Brits and their firing squads and then we find out Alec's parents actually committed suicide.

If you think Stacy's scream is annoying, wait until you hear Natalya yelling "Wake up!!!"

Considering Natalya's statement, the Russian guard would have been a little more alert when Ourumov entered the room.

How did Ourumov manage to get himself shot by Bond? He had every possible advantage.
Bond's bluff that Natalya doesn't mean anything is pointless, because if that were true then Bond would have killed Alec and Xenia. He probably should have anyway and then it would be one on one with Ourumov.

All good points Firemass. The new relationship here between Bond and Moneypenny just doesn't work at all for me.

While I agree with "Nine Years Later" being unnecessary, it's a joke about when Pierce Brosnan first got the role of James Bond nine years earlier. It's pointless as far as the story is concerned, but I find it amusing nevertheless.

It's amazing how he didn't age in the film for almost 10 years. :))

The Moneypenny relationship with Brosnan definitely got better in TND, and was basically back to what it was before Brosnan in TWINE. DAD was ruined by that stupid simulator scene.

    Thunderball

Watched it on Hulu last nite. First time seeing it in HD and I was quite impressed by how nice it looked. I have to say this was the most I've enjoyed Thunderball in years. Many iconic scenes and great vilains. Fiona practically stole every scene she was in. :x
No longer a candidate for dead last in my rankings, but still some niggles:

-Why dress as a widow to attend your own fake funeral? Could have just stayed home.

-Largo walks right in front of a car when crossing the street

-Count Lippe is behind the door with the silenced pistol. Why does Lippe let Bond leave the room alive? He takes no action whatsoever.

-Largo probably would have killed the clone regardless of his last minute greed. Can't let clones of air force pilots back into society.

-Lippe is killed because why? Because Angelo asked for more money? As stated above I doubt it would have mattered. Angelo still completed the mission anyway, so I don't see why Lippe would be in any hot water here.

-Why ditch a nice motorcycle in a lake? No one was following her or anything.

    - M is portrayed as a dummy in his own office. Bond has to really spell things out for him.

    - Convienient meeting Domino on the first dive.

-What's the connection here between Largo, Domino and her brother? There is none!
By comparison, in NSNA, Spectre is using Domino as leverage by saying, "Jack must do as he's told if he wants to keep his sister alive." In Thunderball it remains more of an unexplored coincidence that the airforce pilot they selected was Domino's brother.

-Small fry could have told Largo that Bond is "007" and working with the CIA. Instead he said that he learned nothing.

    - Fiona seems unusually well informed on the sordid details of Pussy Galore in Goldfinger.

-Henchmen taking a shot at Bond while dancing with Fiona was sure risky. Why take such a chance when he's so outnumbered?

-Did the bullet go right between Bond's fingers? How did he get his hand on the wound so fast?

-So much time spent camouflaging the vulcan and then more time searching for the vulcan. Yet it didn't even matter since the bombs were obviously not going to be onboard and Bond had already found Domino's brother dead. Lot of extra work for a watch and dog tags. All these scenes could have been cut from the film and I doubt anyone would have cared about the vulcan wreckage. Out of sight, out of mind.

-Felix wears the same horrendous outfit on both helicopter trips to look for vulcan.

-What the heck is Domino even talking about on the beach? She goes thru like three different mood swings taking guesses at what Bond is about to tell her.
