in General James Bond Chat
Being a lover of all Bonds gastronomics, i have fois gras in the fridge,
to wich im finding more and more of friends/relatives asking "how can you eat that"
(normaly with brioche) no but, id like to know your views (as Bond fans) on this delicacy
By the way, did I tell you, I was "Mad"?

    There were issues in the way it was produced a few years back. I think that's been resolved now though.

    I've never tasted it it, and I know Sir Roger has
    spoken out against it because of the treatment
    of the animals.
    I too would be against it myself but wouldn't stop
    anyone else from enjoying it.

    The goose are still force-feeded and it's certainly not good for them.

    However, foie grasse, you may try like this I had it in a 2* restaurant some years ago):

    Cut it into slices - around 0,8 - 1 cm. thick. Put them into a heated non-sticky pan for less than a minute each side and enjoy.

    That way both sides are a bit burnt, but the centre is still cold - very yummy!

    mmmmmm, ive heard of a eatery i the U.S that puts that into a burger,
    must be a expensive burger,

    Never tasted it. I don't generally eat offal, so chances are I won't be eating foie gras anytime soon.

    I don't think AJB007 is the proper venue for this sort of debate, so I'll simply post my take on the matter and then ignore this thread. Thus don't expect me to reply to any comments to my post. I'll have my say and walk away.

    I find foie gras repulsive. I don't believe in torturing animals for any reason, but especially for the benefit of the taste buds of elitist foodies. I have signed petitions calling for bans of foie gras in my homestate.

    And yes, I am a vegetarian (near vegan) and yes, I do consider myself an animal rights activist.

    But it tastes so ...... good!!! I also hunt, fish (none of that "catch and release" sh1t if the size is right) and eat eel ((anguilla anguilla) smoked on a sour dough rye bread with home made mayo and a twist of lemon), all of which are activities that some people consider to be un-ethical, if not extreme. I hate all these crack pots who try to make it a better world by the way of banning these meagre pleasures we have in this life: smoking, drinking, certain foods etc.

    Obviously a very controversial matter. My opinion mirrors Le Samourai's, though I neither live vegetarian nor consider myself animal rights activist. For me it's a simple matter of not creating more pain and suffering by my actions than necessary, thus goes the gusto for such 'delicacies'.

    HI me again, i did rather think before i posted this thread, that i might touch on
    a imotive subject,but to suggest that AJB 007 was not the correct place to bring up this subject
    was a bit way off after all he (Bond eats it ) but as we live in a democracy i do respect your views ,as you should mine ,after all this subject was
    up for debate so lets not all get nasty ,and all respect each others points of view .But im glad
    Bond doesnt eat veal , that i totaly am against i would join ranks with our Hawiain brother on that,
    but my appologise to Sir Miles if ive ruffled some feathers here,
