Just watched UK program Four Rooms on channel 4
OMG
I guy turned up with an original artwork from Thunderball, on the back it was certified by united Artists as an authentic commission. Great large piece with the Jetpack Connery.
The guy sold it for £999.00
You can't buy the UK quad for that

A real bargain at £999 though ! I reckon plenty on here would have happily paid him more....
and is keeping the ppster himself.
True...but the real Bond fan among the dealers missed out....
I like this program but this latest series has gone off the boil with seedy dealers low balling. I know many owners have way too high expectations but that particular purchase of an original 1/1 piece of art by the Warhol studio was absolutely criminal.
Please can somebody tell me if this was the final original painting by Frank McCarthy, or was it a concept version?
I tried to watch this Four Rooms episode but unfortunately it can not be viewed outside the UK. I would love to see a picture or image of this original painting.
Thanks for your help.
Thanks.
I think we can't post Bond posters etc, But heres a link to
007 under the mango tree, the top Image is what the artwork
looked like, Only Connery in the backpack ( No background )
Hope this helps.
I just registered on the site in order to post images for you, per your request, but I then read the comment that followed your's and assume that the forum's rules prevent me from posting images on the site. If you wish to email me on topcoalpha@gmail.com, I will send you two images:
1. The clearest full-length view of the artwork
2. The front of the envelope from the studio confirming the origin, and authenticity.
Neither is super quality as they are taken from stills from the TV show, but they are better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.
Rest assured that Frank McCarthy's is the original. The dealers knew this and so did the seller there was definitely some BS going on.
Its a very odd tale but I did really like the picture
I wonder if the UA certificate is permission to reproduce the artwork?

He has it to this day in his suburban home in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania (which is where that disc Jockey that sold his Aston Martin in last years auction also lived)
Wes has been offered tons of $$$ just for a small sample but has refused and keeps it complete as the day he got it.
