Am I the only one here that thinks that given the unique nature of this item EON Productions might bid for it for their own archive - like they did Oddjob's Bowler Hat??
What with the success of Skyfall they could afford that out of Petty Cash?
Eon AND Breitling have expressed interest in adding this to their collection/Archive.
With them bidding against one another I expect it will knock most bidders out of the auction.
As this is the FIRST Bond "Gadget" watch (worn by Bond) and it being from one of the favorite Bond films of the franchise AND worn by Connery himself I can only imagine the final selling price.
Personally, I hope EON gets it back for their Archives. as Indiana Jones said "It belongs in a museum"
The guitar is from the most famous movie song in history, as heard by half the world's population. The added intrigue comes from Vic's career. When "Daniel and Elizabeth" jumped from a helicopter as one billion people watched, they heard Vic's strains... "That's a charming tune you're playing."
"Your new watch. This is your twentieth, I believe?"
Just looked at the on-line catalogue estimate £40-60 grand, Thats me out of the bidding.....................unless I sell the house, and live in a tent wearing a really cool watch 8-)
Do you think the wife would suspect anything?
It would be interesting to see full details of the authentication process, and some matching screen shots of the watch in the film with recent photos of the watch.
Before we got the connection with Eon, Martin actually thought he could say with complete accuracy that it was genuine using screen shots from the BR disc. There were some marks on the watch that show up at the same angles as in the movie. That is when he was going to get a forensics specialist involved to rarefy. I wasnt sure it would be proven that way but I guess it doesnt really matter now. We got connected with Eon and Peter and the rest is history.
Has anyone discussed the two different watch bands used on the top time in the movie? One looks like a generic expanding and the other like a Rolex type
Nicolette from Christies and the watch were on 'This Morning' on UK ITV yesterday in a guess the estimate piece inc different pieces from the upcoming Pop Culture auction. Available in the UK on ITV Player. Missed opportunity as there was no mention of the back story at all which, in my opinion, is actually as interesting as the watch itself.
Unfortunetly, we can't view the clip in the US even when I code in a British postal code....
It starts to load then says it's unavailable for me to view in my region.

Only a couple of days now!!! The owner has been in France attending Le Mans for the weekend. Certainly a very exciting month for him! I know I am getting very excited.

You know I'd put in a bid for it myself, only the old bank balance wouldn't stretch that far, sadly! More's the pity.

You know, Matt, you're cleverer than you look.
Still, better than looking cleverer than you are.
