Greatest Big-Battle Climax?

Thunderpussy, no climax jokes :))

My vote goes to YOLT. An incredible Ken Adam set mixed with unique ninja combat proves to be a magnificent combination..

This scene really picks up the film and I feel Connery picks up his performance once he's called to the launching pad to meet Blofeld.

Overall, this battle gives me the 007 chills and I would like to know your favorite Bond battle!

    YOLT is awesome due to the hollowed out volcano and ninjas.

    Moonraker is hugely entertaining due to the yellow space suits and laser battles in outer space.

    Spy Who Loved Me is really great with the captured submarines inside Stromberg's tanker and the somewhat realistic takeover of the Liparus.

    Those are my top 3. Lewis Gilbert rocks.

    Oh and how can I forget Octopussy with the acrobat girls raiding the palace while Bond and Q drop by on the union jack hot air balloon !
    My current 10 favorite:

    YOLT and TSWLM are my favorites. And although it doesn't take that long, I really like the raid of Piz Gloria as well.

    Ah, You know Me so well. still, " A little premature isn't it " :007)

    I agee with everyone so far, Moonraker, TSWLM are fantastic but YOLT is amazing
    and must of been truly fantastic in the cinema in 67. -{ . Only the really big budget
    WW2 films of the time can compare for scale, The amount of extras, stuntmen and
    special effects being put on screen, and the extraordinary sets of Ken Adam.
    Almost an icon of 60's movie history, Fantastic. :D
    Although I'm with Peppermill, I too love the Piz Gloria attack from OHMSS. -{

    I'm going out on a limb here & say I liked the battle at the end of SKYFALL. I thought it had good energy & suspense. I love the bit where the Aston Martin machine guns open fire.

    Other big battles I liked: THUNDERBALL, YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE, THE SPY WHO LOVED ME & THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS. The airfield battle of the latter seems overlooked for some reason. John Glen juggles the different elements very well.

    Also quite like the stealth boat battle in TOMORROW NEVER DIES. Brosnan acquits himself well with his blazing machine guns.

    I agree BIG TAM, TLD had a great final battle, but I also forgot about it, I wonder why...

    The fight between Bond and Alec in GE for me.

    Despite some obvious flaws, the climactic ending that has always been very memorable to me is AVTAK. The massacre in the mine, Mayday and Bond removing the bomb, Bond hanging on the airship and trapping it on the Golden gate bridge, The axe wielding Zorin trying to hack up Bond on the top of the bridge, Zorin falling to his death and the airship exploding in a ball of fire! It's always been a favourite of mine! Very exciting and entertaining. Interesting location-wise as well.

    Other greats are of course YOLT, OHMSS, TSWLM, the LTK tanker chase, GE and SF.
    Now, they only eat rat.

    Yes, realistic in that the outcome appears in doubt for quite a while. TSWLM is the best for me. I like how after a pitched battle which the good guys seem to be winning, Stromberg's forces take seemingly impenetrable cover behind the armored plating. They slaughter Mr. "Leave-It-To-Me-Sir" and everything comes to a standstill. Then Bond gets a bit of inspiration, and after the very tense extraction of the detonator and the even more tense few seconds when the camera cable stops while Bond is too close for comfort, the partition is blown up and the good guys take control. Very nicely played out.

    TSWLM is fantastic. The rappelling into the volcano from YOLT is eye-popping. I love in GF how they choreographed all the military personnel to fall down at once. Too many to choose just one!

    IMHO there just is no other choice. Even TSWLM's battle, as great as it was, clearly didn't have that scope. MR's was good, but too many FX to be as gripping. TLD had a nice long battle too, but being more realistic in tone, it just wasn't as epic. TND had a fine one, but like TSWLM, it was a tad confined. And TB's was a bit sluggish due to the underwater thing. -{
    Dalton & Connery rule. Brozz was cool.

    I think all 4 of Brosnan's movies have some of the best battles. He's known as the action Bond for a reason. My two favorites would probably be his battle with Trevelyan in Goldeneye and also his battle in the submarine in TWINE.

    Brosnan never participated in a "Big Battle" .... The closest he got was Goldeneye, but Jack Wade's Marines never actually joined the fight. Go figure...

    What Firemass is trying to say is that there were never battles in the Brosnan era that were to the scales of YOLT, TSWLM, etc. There were never really two 'armies' against each other as there were in other battles. Sure he had great climatic sequences, but he never really saw a 'big battle.' It was usually him against them, with the British Naval Fleet in TND technically the only exception.
