I have a few different Rolex and Omega watches. Some of which are Bond related, but not all. However, I don't generally wear them every day. Since I love watches and buy them more regularly then I should, I have an assortment of other watches that I can wear on a regular basis. My day job can be a bit rough and tumble at times so I prefer to wear the other watches that are of good quality, but less value. Of late, I have been wearing my special edition RESCO Bullfrog Freddy. Not necessarily an inexpensive watch at $2,450.00. However, I did get a pre-purchase discount as well as another discount that RESCO offers. Moreover, the watches are designed by a Navy SEAL and are worn by SEALs and are meant to take punishment. It has been on my wrist since I got it in January, but on weekends I generally switch it out for one of my more expensive watches. Lately I have been wearing a vintage Rolex on weekends that I recently got serviced after the stem broke. It cost me a small fortune to fix so it has been on the steady weekend rotation.
If you are not a watch nut like myself, I would say wear your watch and enjoy it. Keep it clean and service it at regular intervals. The oils do tend to dry out, even with the modern stuff. Just like a car using synthetic oil, the tiny motor still has to be oiled and tuned.

I wear my Rolex Submariner everyday, I agree with the others why not wear it and enjoy it. Never been one for buying something nice and putting it in a safe so I could look at it everyone in awhile.
I also purchased my submariner in 1982, I have worn it everyday since. Giving it to my son for a graduation present...giving me an excuse to buy a new one
I just retired from working an air rescue helicopter with the Fire Department. The watch has seen plenty of action

I wear my Seamaster everyday and I enjoy doing so...it is in need of a service though...anybody used someone - or recommend someone - in the Manchester area ?
Hi Sir Miles, the problem with a service is two fold. Firstly, you get what you pay for and secondly its hard to see what they have done. On that basis, only use someone who has a track record in Omega service and access to the parts and guarentees the works afterwards. Once you put this criteria in there arent many experts except for Omega themselves who are excellent but pricey. Always do your own research but I use Duncan at Genesis watches as the rolex and omega discussion forums always recommend him. Good luck.

I have someone in the Manchester area called Hamburg, Germany
If you are taking my advise: Now that you wore it everyday, it's a case for the crapper

I understand your points...especially the 'getting what you pay for'....the guy you mention at Genesis, I think, does an Omega service for about £95 and this is probably adequate for my needs - for this watch anyway....I just always prefer to see a face though...and talk to someone - then you get a better judge of the person and what's needed for the watch.
Thank you for the advice -{

Good job I don't use your satnav then 8-)
Still....its in much better condition than the 'watches' you share with us here :v
Spoke to the local Omega dealer yesterday and he said the watch would be sent to Omega and quoted £300 for a service that comes with a 2 year warranty, and would take 6-8 weeks to be done, he also stated that they do not do cosmetic repairs ie. scratched bracelets within that price.
He said that they have an Omega qualified repairer that they use, but Omega is stopping the supply of parts for some watches so he would not be able to do my watch (Well done Omega!!).
He also said with regard to servicing that if it's running OK do not worry about it until it starts noticeably losing time.
The first few days have come and gone and my new Seamaster has been around my wrist almost all the time. It really feels and looks like a quality watch. Ill try to post a picture later today.
Before Rolex moved from their Bexley establishment (they are now at Kings Hill ) you would go into
this foyer, and then this very nice gentleman in a pristine white coat would beckon you over
to be attended too. he was behind 3 inches of bullet proof glass ,you would pass your watch to him through a revolving door , and before your very eyes would half strip the watch in seconds,
check it against their data base to see if its yours and then run pressure tests ect it was just a pleasure to watch to see a master at work (so you get what you pay for that's all
I never thought Rolex was that great until I discovered vintage. There have been many watches that have turned my head. From vintage Omega’s to Doxa’s to Zodiac’s to Seiko’s to Certina’s and even an occasional O&W. I’ve had the privilege to own several of these watches. But nothing has ever put the hook in me like the vintage Rolex 5513. To me, it has the perfect clean dial, no-date and perfect shape and size. It is truly not too big or too small just perfect. I never thought I would own one but I finally had enough from going from one watch to another. I decided to take the plunge and couldn’t be happier. And yes I wear it everyday but not in the pool. I just feel there is no reason to risk it.

All of them they are all fakes! B-)
Joking of course yes I pimped the Black faced SMP because I prefer the PO bezel and for a while I was away from home and wanted a quartz version of the PO didn't exist so I made my own :-) never got around to changing it back and kinda like it the way it is now on a Nato strap
Enjoy B-)

Absolutely beautiful watch!! Congratulations.
I also prefer the non-date look to the Submariner and I have the 14060M and I'm wearing it now too.
