Reading The scripts of Richard Maibaum, by osris. I was wondering have any members
got any ideas on who they'd like to see write a new Bond film ?
Given the success of "Sherlock" an updating and reinvention of the Sherlock Holmes
stories. I love to see. the trio of Steven Moffat, Stephen Thompson and Mark Gatiss.
Given the chance. Especially Mark Gatiss as he's a Bond fan has written several
novels featuring Lucifer Box a sort of Victorian secret agent. I think he'd he very
good at putting in those little Flemingesque moments. :D

Keep Moffat far far away... he would make the movie all about the companion and guest starring Bond

I'd like to see Paul Haggis make a return to the 007 franchise! His work in Crash was excellent!

Oooh, no, he's burned his bridges methinks. His idea was for Vesper to have had a son that Bond found out about in QoS, with Bond then going off and leaving said kid to own devices at the end, a bit of a no-no as Wilson pointed out. Say what you like but Wilson often knows what not to go for, even if he is a bit bureaucratic. Then you have that Haggis got a big fee for the QoS script but left it unfinished cos of the writers' strike; not his fault but if he had hit his marks first time round, the script could have been handed in complete.

Me? Quentin Tarantino, love his stuff, but Babs obviously wants a director she can rein in.

Normally I would agree (especially if they were starting from scratch), but there's a threefold issue here...
    1) As you imply, Tarantino likes being in control. He's not done anything as part of a film series where he didn't have control.
    2) We don't know how he interprets Bond. Tarantino is a man of extremes, so if he wants a Connery or a Dalton or a Craig, you might as well just call the guy "Djames Bond" and have him mutilating bad guys in huge amounts in ways that make the fight with Slate in QoS look positively tame. Alternately, if he wanted to bring wit to the series, you'd see Craig trying to do his best to act like Roger Moore in MR, replete with eyebrow raise.
    3) Most importantly, Tarantino is *really* unpredictable. You either get a mess or a masterpiece with very little in the way of inbetween.

My vote? Why not have Raymond Benson submit something and then have it edited into a screenplay? I've no doubt that Benson, although he obviously isn't a screenwriter, has a terrific grasp of Ian Fleming.
By the way, are you gonna eat that?

He really is a talented writer/ director. His films are usually visually stunning
his use of camera angles mixing music with the images are always interesting.

Believe it or not, I think there probably WAS a window of time when Tarantino could've directed a Bond film, and that was when they rebooted the continuity. He would effectively have restarted it and probably could have or would have dropped out after a few films. Then again, it probably would have scared some people away. I would not have been one of those people, but there ya go.

I would like to see Pulitzer prize-winning playwright Tom Stoppard write Bond screenplays.

He is literate, intelligent, sophisticated, dramatically discerning, versatile, and he's worked in the espionage genre before.

A Bond film written by Stoppard would walk the fine line between a serious drama and a fun adventure. He can do it.

He wouldn't need to turn the character inside out to pull it off, either.
The top 7 Bond films: 1) Dr No. 2) From Russia With Love. 3) Thunderball. 4) On Her Majesty's Secret Service. 5) For Your Eyes Only. 6) The Living Daylights. 7) Licence to Kill.
