James Bond VS. I-Spy

The following was brought to my attention by a good friend, Tatiana Loring, who runs an “I-Spy” website.

One of the members recently posted the following in the forum:
(with some slight modifications to the text by me for clarity)

A spy, pursued by his enemies, heads for a remote house he knows from childhood. There he encounters an old man, who first aims a gun at him, then recognizes him and calls him by name. The spy tells him they are about to be attacked: What weapons are available? Besides the old man's gun, there are knives, a few sticks of dynamite, and the hunting rifle that once belonged to the spy's father--the same gun the old man taught him to shoot when he was small.

They get ready, fortifying the windows and rigging booby traps. A little white-haired lady makes explosives out of plastic bags, lamp parts, and some kind of black goo. The faceless adversaries attack after dark. One by one they are shot or blown up, until only the spy, the white-haired lady, and the old man are left standing. Even the bad guys' car explodes in a blaze of flame.

Think you’re reading the story synopsis of the latter part of Skyfall?

Guess again…That's the plot of an old episode of the TV show “I-Spy”, starring Robert Culp & Bill Cosby, called “Home to Judgment” Robert Culp's small-screen masterpiece.

One can only help to wonder if the screenwriter may have seen that episode of “I-Spy” in the distant past, and the story stayed in his subconscious.

Weird, huh?
